Peraton is seeking a Summer & Fall 2024 Electrical Engineering Intern in our Wallops Island, VA location to support our NASA Sounding Rocket Operations Contract (NSROC) program. NSROC implements the work of the NASA Sounding Rocket program (NSRP) to fully design, build, integrate, test, and fly sounding rockets via expendable suborbital rockets to study a host of scientific objectives.    Interns at NSROC are given the opportunity to work on flight hardware and flight designs including design, analysis, and testing, as well as apply theoretical knowledge to solve real world engineering problems.   This position is on-site at Wallops Island, VA. There is no relocation/housing assistance for this role.   The Electrical Engineering Intern develops skills and principals of electrical engineering through their support of special projects within the sounding rocket electrical engineering group.  Specific duties include:  - Design and utilize ground support equipment to test and validate telemetry system components. - Perform environmental qualification testing of new sounding rocket components.  - Develop programming applications to test and validate components utilizing software in C, C++, C# and Matlab. - Research and develop new engineering and specialty products. - Develop technical documentation to evaluate and check electronic systems. - Document the results of design, analysis and testing project tasks for technical reports and meeting presentations. - Develop electrical engineering skills, principals and application approaches through participation in mission testing activities and reviews. - Training will be required in Electrostatic Discharge (ESD)

Participation in working groups, design reviews and system tests are required. This position provides administration of network and communications systems, including, but not limited to, Local Area Network (LAN) and Wide Area Network (WAN) systems. The Administrator must have solid technical skills, with experience in a variety of network protocols, software, and hardware involved in LAN and WAN operations. This position requires strong troubleshooting, analytic and diagnostic skills, along with good communication abilities. The Network Administrator must have comprehensive knowledge of Government hardware, software, and network components. The Administrator is responsible for creating monitoring reports and managing equipment logs, as well as ensuring the functionality of links. Operating here are two functionally identical satellite ground terminals: The White Sands Ground Terminal, and the Second TDRSS Ground Terminal. These ground terminals ensure uninterrupted communications between various ground stations, NASA’s orbiting fleet of Tracking and Data Relay Satellites (TDRS), customer spacecraft (satellites), and the computer systems that support such spacecraft. WSC serves as an interface for distributing satellite data to control centers and scientists who then use the daily influx of data to expand our ever-growing knowledge of the Earth and the universe.   In this role, you’ll perform a variety of EHS activities to plan and implement the Peraton EHS Management System and comply with NASA standards and EHS regulations.   This position will be responsible for: - Perform, coordinate and track EHS programmatic assessments and inspections. - Develop, prepare, and maintain EHS programmatic guidance, policies, and procedures. - Prepare and submit EHS reports, and documentation as required by NASA and federal and state agencies. - Support the incident investigation and reporting process to ensure root causes are identified, corrective actions implemented to prevent future occurrence and appropriate reporting requirements are met. - Support hazardous waste management program to include monthly tracking, providing training, and managing shipments of hazardous waste and universal waste. - Support SENSE personnel in hazard assessments and systems safety analysis of design projects, operations, maintenance, and other activities to ensure effective controls are implemented. - Develop educational materials, provide EHS training and manage the EHS learning management system. - Lead, participate and provide consultation to SENSE and NASA safety councils and committees. - Maintain EHS systems including site workflow process, safety data sheet management system, and mishap reporting databases for the WSC.
