Our engineers and technician staff support the missions from concept, through development, launch and mission operations.   In this position, you will report to the JPL Technical Group Supervisor for the Autonomy and Fault Protection Group and programmatically to the Flight System Engineering Lead. Your primary responsibility will be to work with a multidisciplinary team in the system level design and development of a Fault Protection and Fault Management system. You will be responsible for technical and design aspects of the fault protection system, as well as supporting schedules and deliverables for the fault protection effort. You will follow the section's methodology on the execution of the Fault Protection and Fault Management system engineering process and assist in ensuring practices are effectively utilized and implemented by the flight systems engineering team. You will work independently and within a team environment, collaborating on tasks performed across a spectrum of disciplines, which will require excellent writing and oral presentation skills. Peraton is looking for an Ocean Model Scientist/Programmer to work on site in Stennis, MS.  The candidate will develop, upgrade and maintain the analytical and software systems necessary to conduct research into global and regional ocean modeling and ocean dynamics.   The candidate will work with a suite of scripts and compilable codes which routinely run ocean circulation and ocean wave models. He/she will develop software to pre- and post- process for these models and evaluate the skill of the models. These models may be executed on local cluster of CPUs and also in a High Performance Computing (HPC) environment. Novel approaches to analysis and graphical presentation are encouraged. Being able work and collaborate with other scientists is imperative. The candidate may also support development of software to automate computing and sending instructions to ocean sensing objects to guide their movements. These computations are based up a myriad of values including object position and predicted atmosphere and ocean state at a future time.   The candidate must be able to troubleshoot/debug software when unexpected results occur.
