  • Overview

    Peraton is seeking a Maintenance and Support Supervisor in Deming, NM.  This is an advanced level position and requires the individual to use technical knowledge and job related experience to coordinate and supervise all maintenance activities and other related functions.


    • Applies comprehensive technical knowledge and experience to the overall aerostat system operations properly interpreting manufacturer’s manuals or similar TARS O&M documentation.
    • Oversees all maintenance activities to include, Aerostat and Subsystems, Airborne Radar, Winch Systems, Mooring System, SPVs, Support Equipment, Facilities, Roads and Grounds and all other structures.
    • Works closely with shift supervisors, maintenance personnel and Supply Technician to ensure maintenance actions and repair part requests are completed in a timely manner.
    • Assigns daily maintenance priorities.
    • Submits monthly preventive maintenance schedules (CDRL A004) to the TARS Control Center.
    • Generates and submits monthly maintenance reports (MMR)
    • Works with subcontractors to insure subcontracted jobs are completed on time and per the specifications as outlined in the scope of work.
    • Oversees the site’s Carcass Repair Life Cycle Program to ensure unserviceable parts are processed for repair in a timely manner and according to established procedures.
    • Identifies obsolete parts and communicates with vendors to find suitable substitutes.
    • Oversees the site Material Storage and Preservation Program to ensure all spare parts are properly stored, maintained and inspected as required.
    • Generates technical reports and engineering modifications as required.
    • Performs Quality Control duties as required to ensure maintenance actions are performed per O&M specifications and historical records are maintained in accordance with PWS requirements.
    • Oversees the site’s Tool Control Program and performs periodic spot checks to ensure tools and tool boxes are being maintained according to the Tool Control SOP.
    • Substitutes as a Flight Director or Site Manager as required.
    • Functions as a key member of the flight crew during aerostat launch or recover operations.
    • Functions as a key member of the crew during aerostat inflation, deflation, midlife and end of life inspections, payload upload and removal and other significant tasks as required.
    • Provides flight crew training and certifies other personnel. 
    • Performs other related duties as required.



    • Personal computer, printer, and other general office equipment.


    • Exterior and interior work environments, sometimes in inclement weather.
    • Some work may be required at elevated altitudes or confined spaces.
    • Candidates must be willing and able to work various work shifts as assigned.
    • Travel may be required as directed.


    • Work requires the ability to perform the following physical activities: walking, standing, stooping, bending, twisting, crawling, reaching, lifting, sitting, and squatting. Work may require walking, standing and sitting for extended periods of time.





    • High school or GED Diploma. 
    • Supervisory experience
    • Certifications must be attained/maintained as assigned.
    • Flight Director certification must be satisfactorily completed/obtained within prescribed timeframe.
    • Must be capable of reading and understanding engineering drawings and schematics.
    • Valid U.S. Driver’s license 
    • Must be able to understand, speak, read and write English fluently.
    • Successfully completed Background Investigation with a Favorable Suitability Determination required or to be obtained within acceptable timeframe.


    • Associate’s Degree or equivalent 
    • 10 years progressively responsible TARS experience 



    • This position requires the candidate to obtain and maintain a position of public trust. In order to obtain this position, you must currently be a U.S. Citizen and U.S. Resident and be able to show proof of citizenship and residency.
