    Peraton is seeking a Systems Engineering Project Manager to join the PRST Range Instrumentation Support (RIS) team in Huntsville, Alabama.  This position is staffed at Peraton’s offices in Cummings Research Park.   The successful candidate will have the responsibility for developing, troubleshooting, and integrating test and evaluation systems to meet mission requirements for our Missile Defense Agency (MDA) or Army Space and Missile Defense Command (SMDC) customers.


    Specific duties will include but are not limited to: 

    • Responsible for successful delivery of a program to a DoD customer; or manage performance of a task or project as part of a larger program under direction of another PM.
    • Capable of managing and directing a large team of personnel in providing technical design, development, integration, test and support.
    • Manage and integrate activities in accordance with contract requirements and ensure technical, schedule, cost, and financial performance.
    • Participate in the full Engineering Lifecycle of range instrumentation systems, including requirements gathering, generation and maintenance of requirements, design, development, test, integration, validation and verification and support
    • Assist team-members, customers, end users and partners with issue/problem resolutions, including writing of technical documentation and participation in technical meetings.
    • Responsible for the engineering design, installation, maintenance and repair of fixed and mobile range safety systems.
    • Applying comprehensive technical knowledge to solve complex problems by interpreting manufacturers' manuals, problem reports, test results, or similar documents.
    • Develop system documentation to include but not limited to standard operating procedures, user manuals, etc.
    • Support design reviews of mission architecture with Government customers
    • Manage risk, customer relationships, and program staffing.
    • Develop financial estimates for core and mission activities.
    • Supervise job duties and provide direction for direct reports.
    • Position may require approximately 25% travel with some durations for two weeks.



    • BS degree in an Engineering or Scientific field and 10+ years of related Engineering and progressive Project Management experience; MS degree and 8+ years; without a degree, 16+ years of related experience is required
    • Demonstrated experience managing projects with respect to cost, schedule, performance and risks.  Interface with Government and/or Prime customers to provide status of projects
    • Demonstrated experience with following Systems Engineering Process to include leading design reviews, system development, integration and final system sell-off
    • Demonstrated experience working with supply chain team to execute project procurements to include statement of works, evaluation quotations and developing technical justifications for selected vendors
    • Demonstrated experience leading a team of multiple direct reports, subcontractors or other team members to complete project requirements
    • Demonstrated experience working with Program Management team to develop cost estimates, schedules, and technical responses to task order requests


    • Previous experience supporting DoD systems primarily with Missile Defense Agency (MDA) or Army Space and Missile Defense Command (SMDC) customers
    • Ability to succeed in the fast-paced and changing environments of development and program execution
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills
    • Experience using Microsoft tools such as Project, Excel and Word
    • Experience with selection and hiring of candidates for technical and management positions within department, and conducting performance evaluations and salary reviews for assigned staff
    • Valid Security+ certification or higher


    This position requires the candidate to already have a current Secret security clearance and to maintain the clearance.
