    Peraton is seeking a Cyber Security Documentation Specialist in Greenbelt, MD to support of the Joint Polar Satellite System (JPSS) program at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center on the NASA OMES II contract.

     

    The Joint Polar Satellite System (JPSS) is the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s (NOAA) next-generation operational Earth observation program that acquires and distributes global environmental data primarily from multiple polar-orbiting satellites.  The program plays a critical role to NOAA’s mission to understand and predict changes in weather, climate, oceans and coasts, and the space environment, which support the Nation’s economy and protect lives and property. 

    Responsibilities

     

    • Review, edited documents such as Contingency Plan (CP), Contingency Plan Test (CPT), System Security Plan (SSP) for the Joint Polar Satellite Support System (JPSS) Ground System.
    • Attend JPSS/NASA weekly meetings to ensure security is in compliance
    • Review and comment on various NASA Test Procedures
    • Review Standard of Procedure (SOP) documentation and provides comments
    • Track POA&Ms and review artifacts for closure in Cyber Security Assessment & Management (CSAM) making sure they meet the due date and not become overdue
    • Participate in an annual Security Control Assessment (SCA), gathering artifacts for an assessment to ensure the system meets the Authority to Operate (ATO)
    • Prepare written presentations for mangers or targeted groups to explain highly technical or complex programs, projects or situations and to request their buy in
    • Prepare Memorandums for the client for various issues dealing with POA&Ms
    • Participate in the annual COOP events followed by creating a Contingency Plan Test Plan and Test Results (CPTPR) document with the findings from the test
    • Update Interconnection Service Agreements (ISA) to ensure they are updated before the expiration date
    • Meets with the Information System Security Officer’s (ISSO) on a weekly basis to ensure tasks/action items are being completed and taking notes on any new tasks that are distributed 
    • Participate in NASA Operation Base System Acceptance Testing (OBSAT), monitoring testers ensuring test procedures are being completed in correct format
    • Provide security monitoring to ensure no malicious activity is on the system. The tools used to monitor the system are McAfee, Symantec, WatchGuard, QRadar, Tripwire and NetMRI
    • Expertise with FISMA, OMB Cybersecurity Directives, and NIST 800-53, etc.

     

    Qualifications

     

    REQUIRED:

    • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or other engineering or technical discipline, and 3+ years of related experience in field.
    • 1-2+ years utilizing network security monitoring and computer incident handling and response capability and tools.
    • 1-2+ years of writing technical user guide documentation, standard operating procedures, and response playbooks.
    • Expertise with FISMA, OMB Cybersecurity Directives, and NIST 800-53, etc.

     

    PREFERRED:

    • Excellent verbal communication skills
    • General understanding of NASA policies and practices

    SECURITY CLEARANCE:

     

    This position requires the candidate to be able to obtain and maintain a SECRET security clearance.  In order to obtain a clearance candidate must be a US Citizen and show proof of citizenship.
