  • Overview

    We are seeking a Systems Engineer to join our team at White Sands Complex (WSC) in Las Cruces, NM. The selected candidate will join a team that is dedicated to mission operations, system analysis, software & hardware testing, implementation, of new software and/or hardware in support of the Laser Communications Relay Demonstration (LCRD).  The role will lead to performing Flight Operations functions for the LCRD Mission Operations Center (LMOC) located at WSC. 

    Responsibilities

    • Prepare for providing Mission Operations Team (MOT) functions for the LCRD payload Mission Operations during all operational phases to include pre-launch, launch and early orbit, as well as post-launch power-on and testing at WSC.
    • LCRD operations efforts to include participation in working group meetings and major reviews, mission readiness testing, mission simulations and rehearsals, and mission operational readiness exercises in preparation for launch and on-orbit commissioning.
    • Provide test engineering support to the LCRD Mission by configuring interfaces and developing test procedures, telemetry pages, system scripts (PROCs), and Operations Procedures. 
    • Configure, operate, and monitor the LMOC equipment required to communicate with the Mission Spacecraft.
    • Perform engineering analysis of flight and ground system performance during pre-launch, launch, and post-launch test periods and able to write technical policies, procedures, and documentation.
    • Perform hardware and software testing, customer support analysis and troubleshooting, and operations procedures development.
    • Develop and document test plans and test cases for newly developed or existing software or hardware.
    • Provide services to meet customer requirements covering pre-launch testing, launch, early orbit, and on-orbit operations through the end of mission.

    Qualifications

    REQUIRED:

    • Four years operational experience working in a virtual environment.
    • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Science, Technology, or math discipline and 2 + years of relevant work experience with spacecraft operations from either military or industry.
    • 2 years’ experience with software scripting languages and development of automated systems
    • 1 years’ experience in integration, test and evaluation of hardware and software requirements compliance.

    PREFERRED:

    • Master’s Degree in engineering, science, technology, or math discipline
    • Ability to coordinate and work with multiple tasks, projects, and personnel from a variety of disciplines.
    • Integration, test and evaluation of hardware and software requirement compliance.
    • Ability to Interface with personnel from a variety of disciplines to ensure successful integration, test and operation of the LMOC.
    • Ability to coordinate and work with multiple tasks, projects, and personnel from a variety of disciplines.
    • Ability to communicate effectively with customer and contractor senior management.
    • Must be able to travel as required (up to 20% anticipated in the first 12 months)
    • Primarily a day-shift position but the selected candidate must be willing to work rotating shifts, weekends and holidays on a rotational basis when required

    Clearance:

    • This position requires that the candidate have an active TS/SCi clearance with the ability to maintain the clearance.
