  • Overview

    We are seeking a Senior Nuclear Surety Systems Engineer to support our US Navy customer (Strategic Systems Programs), in Colorado Springs, CO.


    The candidate will support SSP’s nuclear weapon modernization efforts.  The company has held this contract for over sixty years and is working on the fourth year of a five year Re-Entry System Technical Support Contract.  Offices are located in Colorado Springs, CO.



    This position will be responsible for: 

    • Perform nuclear safety analyses and surety evaluations
    • Coordinate, conduct, and assist in the closure of Navy strategic weapon system Special Safety Studies (SSS)
    • Writing technical white papers, preparing presentations
    • Serving as technical secretary for various DoD/DOE working groups
    • Analyzing and tracing requirements
    • Reviewing and commenting on detailed test plans and reports
    • Analyzing detailed schedules in support of EVMS
    • Assessing the design and production efforts of the Design and Production Agents for nuclear warheads
    • Serving as independent evaluator for formal design development, integration, qualification, certification, and production reviews
    • Representing the Navy customer at various meetings when they cannot be present



    • BS in Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Physics or Chemistry, and 10+ years of directly related Engineering experience.
    • 10+ years of experience in a Systems Engineering role.
    • 5+ years of experience in the development of a major weapons system 
    • 2+ years of experience in the assessment of Nuclear Safety and Surety


    • MS in a related engineering discipline
    • Experience with DoD major systems acquisition processes
    • Experience with joint DoD/DOE nuclear weapons development processes
    • Ability to work independently
    • Experience with DOORS
    • Strong communication skills
    • Excellent teamwork

    SECURITY CLEARANCE: This position requires the candidate to already have an active Secret security clearance and to maintain the clearance.   This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret Clearance.  Candidates with a final Top Secret will be preferred.
