    Technology is constantly changing and our adversaries are digitally “going dark” at a rate that is exceeding law enforcement’s ability to keep pace. Those charged with protecting the United States are not always able to access the evidence needed to prosecute crime and prevent terrorism. The Government has trusted in Peraton to provide the technical ability, tools, and resources to help protect national security and bring criminals to justice.

    In response to this challenge, these employees provide proven, industry leading information security, software, hardware, networks, systems, forensics, reverse engineers, and systems engineering to our law enforcement customer. This position is for a customer focused, mission driven, Cyber Software Developer. This engineer will have hands on experience in software development and information security and be self-driven.

    The chosen candidate will provide core technical leadership for the design, development, and maintenance of Windows-based software in support of the national security and law enforcement mission.  The candidate will also provide support for the design and integration of various components of technology, including development and recommendations for new technologies, as appropriate.

    Work will take place in the Woodbridge, Virginia area.  Minimal domestic travel is possible.

    Responsibilities

    The work will entail learning and understanding the nature of existing tools and the client’s mission. Duties will include:

    • Design, development, test, documentation, maintenance, and deployment of software products for both PCs
    • Perform quick reaction software developments to accomplish specific objectives
    • Conduct research to identify novel techniques, approaches, and tools to accomplish specific tasks, often for one-off purposes
    • Provide support to product end-users
    • Utilize standard configuration management and bug reporting systems
    • Perform software product analyses and reverse engineering

    Qualifications

    REQUIRED:

    • BS degree, with eight (08)  years of relevant experience. Equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
    • At least seven (07) years relevant development experience in Malware Analysis, Reverse Engineering or related efforts
    • Experience with some or all of the following:
      • Experience developing software for desktop computers running Windows
      • Experience and knowledge of Windows internals
      • Experience with developing drivers a plus
      • Experience with C, C++, C#, and assembly/shellcode
      • Understanding of basic OS security
      • Familiarity with malware techniques, defenses, and detection avoidance
      • Experience using operating system virtualization products such as VMWare
      • Some familiarity or experience performing software analysis and reverse engineering including use of tools such as WinDbg and IDA Pro

    PREFERRED:

    • A detail-oriented personality but also be able to multi-task in a dynamic environment driven by external demands.
    • Ability to work independently with little to no technical guidance
    • Participation in the Cyber Security community with attendance to Black Hat or DEF CON

     

    SECURITY CLEARANCE: 

    *This position requires the candidate to have a current Top Secret security clearance and the ability to obtain a polygraph.  Candidate must possess SCI eligibility.
