  • Overview

    We are seeking a Senior Systems Engineer in Greenbelt, Maryland to join our team in Greenbelt, MD to support the Space Communication Network Services (SCNS) Contract supporting NASA.

     

    The successful candidate will lead the sustaining engineering team for the hardware and software of Satellite Laser Ranging (SLR) systems while ensuring that system requirements are achieved.  The candidate must demonstrates an understanding of the entire system life cycle from the specification and analysis of requirements, through the design of the hardware or software, procurement, fabrication, assembly, to integration and test to verify that system requirements have been realized. 

    Responsibilities

     

    • Managing all systems engineering processes and procedures for the SLR operations and sustainment program, to include preventative and corrective maintenance, problem reporting, engineering changes, configuration management, and risk management.
    • Leading systems engineering activities for a system or subsystems using methodologies and techniques appropriate to the engineering discipline.
    • Interpreting system level requirements as they apply to the development, upgrade, or replacement of SLR systems and components.
    • Applying comprehensive technical knowledge to solve complex problems by interpreting manufacturers' manuals, problem reports, test results, or similar documents.
    • Identifying design alternatives and performing trade studies for system upgrades or replacement of obsolete equipment.
    • Preparing presentations and providing summary reports to the NASA customer.
    • Developing engineering test plans, procedures, and reports.
    • Preparing documentation of equipment architecture and cabling configurations.
    • Reviewing operations and maintenance documentation.

    Qualifications

    REQUIRED:

    • Bachelor of Science degree in engineering, physics, computer science, or mathematics is required.
    • 8 years’ experience in the analysis, design and development of ground data systems. (A Master’s degree in engineering, physics, computer science, or mathematics may substitute for 3 years of experience).
    • A minimum of 1 year experience in coordinating and directing the work of peers is required.

     

    PREFERRED:

    • Experience developing and executing test plans for electronics system verification and acceptance.
    • Experience evaluating electro-optic elements, subsystems, and systems for ground-based systems including lasers, detectors, and beam control assemblies.
    • Experience integrating and configuring timing equipment for high precision servo control, data measurement, and processing systems/subsystems.
    • Experience using complex test instruments such as high frequency pulse generators, frequency synthesizers, distortion analyzers, and complex computer control equipment.

     

    SECURITY CLEARANCE:

     

    This position requires the candidate to have the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.  In order to obtain a clearance, you need to be a U.S. Citizen and show proof of citizenship.
