  • Overview

    The Software System Safety Engineer will provide system safety engineering in support of the Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren, VA.


    • Develop, refine and update System Safety Program Plans for software intensive systems
    • Conduct hazard analysis, risk assessments and software safety requirements and analysis
    • Prepare and coordinate system safety presentations for review boards such as the Weapon System Explosives Safety Review Board


    • Bachelor’s of Science (BS) degree from an accredited college or university in an engineering, scientific, or technical discipline.
    • Five (5) years of professional experience in software engineering applied to program development, modeling, and simulation.
    • Two (2) years of qualified experience as a System Safety Engineer in performing tasks focused on the development of system safety analysis, software safety analysis, software safety testing, risk assessment, software safety requirements and safety analysis by identifying, documenting, and tracking resolutions of software safety anomalies.
    • Experience in peer review analysis of code written in programming languages, such as C++ and C Sharp.
    • Working experience in coordinating, developing, and executing of comprehensive technical data packages, Safety Assessment Reports, and System Requirement Hazard Analysis.
    • Experience in the development and coordination of presentations to support the Weapon System Explosives Safety Review Board and the Software Systems Safety Technical Review Panel.
