  • Overview

    Peraton is looking for a talented Lead Data Architect for an operational system that has a large legacy database built from 25 years of data, receives continuous feeds of new automated feeds and user uploads. The Lead Architect will be responsible for database design and engineering tasks as well as data maintenance activities supporting a production system.   The candidate will contribute to knowledge base of the software engineers who develop and design the applications.

    Responsibilities

    • Develop a strong understanding of the business requirements for a system managing a large, challenging data set.
    • Monitoring and taking proactive steps to increase the availability and minimizing the outages of the Enterprise Oracle Databases. This includes tasks focused on defining and tracking relevant metrics, database development activities as well as tuning the databases.
    • Participate as a data architecture SME in collaborative design and development meetings to identify optimal technical solutions to complex problems. These will include both high level strategic and platform migration decision making as well as low level business and application level discussions.
    • Support activities that include on call (24/7) monitoring of the critical production databases and taking reactive procedures to provide business continuity.
    • Support development community. This includes database design as well as code reviews, contributing to the knowledge base of the software engineers about oracle database features, tuning expertise and providing implementation support as required.
    • Support the enterprise development objectives, this includes deployment of the database artifacts and researching the impact and enabling any database feature that would be required for the enterprise applications.
    • Assist with design and implementation of custom Java code and database scripts where possible.

    Qualifications

    REQUIRED:

    • BS degree, with eight (08) years of relevant experience. Equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
    • Minimum six (06) years of work experience performing the following activities:
      • Developing SNA algorithm software modules
      • Developing solutions and extending FOSS/COTTS products
      • Experience working with data collected from commercially available social networks
      • Experience deploying analytics in a cloud environment

     

    PREFERRED:

    • Oracle design and development experience.
    • PL/SQL and SQL
    • Clustered configurations, redundancy, backup and recovery
    • Java (or other programming language) database query development experience
    • Cloud migration

     

    SECURITY CLEARANCE:

     

    *This position requires the candidate to have a current Top Secret security clearance and the ability to obtain a polygraph.
