    We are seeking a Sr. Software Engineer ( Back End) in Herndon, VA., to support our Defense Threat Reduction Agency J9 CXQ customer.

     

    Peraton’s efforts on behalf of the Defense Threat Reduction Agency’s J9 CXQ Division, provides software integration and development services to bring fused Countering Weapons of Mass Destruction (CWMD) data to assist DoD analysts in responding to tactical and strategic threats.  Our activities assist in integrating, displaying, and operationalizing large amounts of data from multiple sources into a dynamic picture of the operational CWMD environment.

    Responsibilities

    Candidate will work in a high-performance environment using Agile Software Development processes to support system design, architecture, application deployment, and application maintenance.  This position is responsible for integrating, and developing software for DTRA's Dynamic Picture of the Operating Environment (DPOE) system.  The successful candidate is part of an integrated team based in Herndon, VA tasked with conducting back-end and front-end software development for end-user visualization of pertinent data.

     

    The candidate will be actively involved in design, development, and maintenance of legacy and new applications.

    Qualifications

    REQUIRED:

    •  Minimum requirements are a BS in a relevant technical discipline such as Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Information Systems and 6+ years of experience. With an AS degree, 10+ years of experience is required.
    •  7+ year’s experience in back-end Java development and considered to have expert knowledge in this area.
    •  Understanding of Agile Scrum framework.
    •  Developing with Eclipse, NetBeans or JDeveloper
    •  Knowledge of JPA and the Hibernate implementation.
    •  Design, build, deploy, and maintain ETL workflows
    •  Sun Java Enterprise System (Web Server, Application Server, Message Queue, Access Manager, and Portal)
    •  2+ years of related web application deployment experience in a LINUX environment.
    •  Team lead experience leading scrums and mentoring junior developers.
    •  Experience capturing requirements and writing software specifications for delegated coding tasks.
    •  Experience managing a multi-developer GIT repository: Approving merge requests, assist in resolving branch merging issues.
    •  Certifications required: Security+

     

    PREFERRED:

    •  Contributions to any open source project (Github) is a plus!
    •  Experience using Jira ticketing system.
    •  Provide code review guidance to junior developers.
    •  Effectively interface directly with customer to manage expectation, and resolve issues.
    •  Strong verbal and written communication skills.

     

    SECURITY CLEARANCE:

    This position requires the candidate to have a current and active Secret clearance, and to maintain the clearance. An active and current TS/SCI within the last 2 years is preferred and will be given preference.
