    We are seeking a Senior Project Manager, Satellite Communications Services, in Herndon, VA to support the Peraton Communications Sector.


    The position will report to the Vice President, Satellite Services and work closely with leaders from all functional areas. The Peraton Communications Sector provides innovative, reliable communications solutions to the nation’s most sensitive and mission-critical programs and systems. As a trusted provider of highly differentiated secure communications capabilities, the Peraton Communications Sector is a critical partner to the Intelligence Community, Department of Defense, and select federal agencies and commercial entities.


    The Project Manager role directs, grows and ensures execution of all aspects of the programs in their assigned Satellite Services area.  The position is responsible for the overall performance of assigned programs/projects from a financial, technical, schedule, contractual, and customer satisfaction perspective.  The Project Manager is effectively running the programs/projects and will have overall financial and performance targets that are aggregated across all Task Orders of assigned contracts and programs. 

    This role is expected to drive growth of assigned programs/projects by both supporting new/expanded contract efforts, as well as finding creative ways to add value within existing programs.  As part of this effort, the Project Manager is expected to seek opportunities for business development and may aid in proposal development, solution design, contract negotiation and contract compliance.

    In addition to driving growth and development, the position is expected to ensure that program services are delivered on schedule, on budget, and on specification.  The Project Manager ensures master plans and schedules are followed, developing solutions to program challenges, and collaborates with internal stakeholders to seek opportunities to maximize customer satisfaction.

    This position will be responsible for the following:

    • Serve as the internal expert on mission profiles and customer requirements of the assigned program area.
    • Develop a specific growth plan to expand/maximize program value and satisfaction for each customer.
    • Achieve or exceed financial, delivery, and contractual performance targets for assigned programs.
    • Develop, manage and execute the Program Schedule for all assigned programs.
    • Participate in monthly internal program reviews to track performance against targets and metrics.
    • Conduct monthly/periodic on-site customer program reviews to ensure compliance, satisfaction and seek new areas to add value.
    • Collaborate with Satellite, Terrestrial and/or Network Engineering teams to ensure products and services effectively meet the requirements and expectations of the customer programs and contracts.
    • Ensure that all programs are supported with appropriate processes and documentation across all functional areas (Accounting, Legal, Sales, Technical Support, etc.) in the organization.



    • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Telecommunications or related field and 10+ years of experience. 16+ years of related work experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
    • 3-5 years’ experience in progressive roles supporting, developing, or leading customer programs in the telecommunication, or cyber security industry with specific focus on managing complex program development for U.S. government clients.
    • Certification as a Program Management Professional (PMP), or attainable within 6 months of hire.
    • Prior experience working in or directly supporting military or government agencies i.e. DISA, DoD.


    • Strong written and oral communications skills
    • Highly organized self-starter with personal drive to “make sure it is right.”
    • Ability to travel up to 10%
    • Existing relationships with key government customers (DISA, DoD, national security agencies) of mission supporting telecommunications services.


    This position requires the candidate to have an active current clearance and be able maintain a security clearance at the Secret level.
