  • Overview

    We are seeking a Defensive Cyberspace Operations Monitor 1 at Schriever AFB, Colorado Springs, CO to provide on-site system technical support to perform cybersecurity and defense cyberspace activities on the Global Positioning System (GPS) Operational Control Segment (OCS) for the 2nd Space Operations Squadron (SOPS) and SMC/GPL.

    Responsibilities

    • Identify, analyze, categorize, and respond to cybersecurity incidents using a limited toolset
    • Support 24/7 shift operations by working one of three available shift schedules: Day (0630-1630), swing (1430-0030), or mid (1030-0830)
    • Work autonomously, with little direct oversight or direction, while still accomplishing cybersecurity mission objectives
    • Effectively plan, brief, execute, and debrief cybersecurity operations both in-person (face-to-face) and via logging of all cyberspace activities in a master station log
    • Clearly articulate cybersecurity threats, indicators of compromise, and risk mitigation and response strategies to non-technical space operators and managers
    • Support short and mid-term (days to weeks) customer deployments to geographically separated duty locations
    • Monitor, track, and report on user and network activity

    Qualifications

    REQUIRED:

    • Security+ or other DOD 8570 IAT Level II Baseline Certification (CCNA-Security, CySA+, GICSP, or SSCP)
    • 1-3 years of experience with Splunk or other SIEM tools
    • Splunk User Certification or higher
    • 1-3 years of networking or system administration experience (Windows or Linux server)
    • 1-3 years of experience supporting Air Force cybersecurity or space operations
    • Post-secondary education (associate’s or bachelor’s degree) or military-equivalent training in system administration, networking, computer science, or cybersecurity

    Requires Active Secret Clearance and Ability to obtain Top Secret Clearance
