    We are seeking a Space Network Ground Systems Equipment Trainer to join our team at the White Sands Complex (WSC) in Las Cruces, NM. The full-time trainer will join a team of Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) dedicated to training the Communications Services Controllers (CSCs) who monitors their assigned Space-To-Ground-Link Terminals (SGLTs) or Site Specialist (SS) responsible for the entire Second TDRS Ground Terminal / White Sands Ground Terminal (WSGT) technical operations and Space Network customer supports.

     

    This candidate’s primary mission is conducting training needs assessments, training product development/editing, administering training, evaluating and recommending certification for new hire Communications Services Controllers (CSC) and Site Specialists (SS) as well as providing recurring training which is further defined below.  

    Responsibilities

    This position will be responsible for the following:  

    • In coordination with other subject matter experts, and Operations Management, perform as a training editor for ground equipment training curriculum and the overall responsibility for developing, compiling, and revision of training content used for certification of CSCs and SSs which may involve conducting weekly working group meetings. 
    • Perform as Subject Matter Expert (SME) for operations and provide initial class room familiarization, including hands on training of new hires. 
    • Formulates training outlines and determines instructional methods such as individual training, group instruction, lectures, demonstrations, conferences, meetings and workshops.  Provides reoccurring training for certified CSCs and SS as well as providing remedial training when required or at the direction of Operations Management.  
    • Coordinates and executes Continuity of Operations (COOP) training and exercises as required or directed by Operations Management. 
    • Maintain training records and provide status reports of training progress to Operations Management.
    • Infrequent travel in support of training activities at remote locations such as the Guam Remote Ground Terminal and Blossom Point Remote Ground Terminal may be required.
    • Occasional work during nights or weekends is required when supporting training activities or anomaly recoveries.
    • Other duties as assigned such that they do not eclipse the primary mission of training. 

    Qualifications

    REQUIRED:

    • BS/BA degree (or equivalent) and 5+ years of relative work experience.  
    • 3+ years’ experience in space network and ground communications equipment.
    • This position requires the candidate to be able to obtain a secret security clearance.

    PREFERRED:

    • Previous spacecraft operations experience, design and/or test experience from military or industry.
    • Familiarity with the Space Network Ground Segment Sustainment (SGSS) project.
    • Demonstrated written and oral communication skills, including ability to communicate effectively with peers and management.
    • Experience with MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).  

    SECURITY CLEARANCE

    This position requires the candidate to be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
