  • Overview

    We are seeking to fill a critical role for a Cleared Principal Buyer in our Herndon, VA location to support various high profile customers.  This role will provide both pre-award and post-award procurement activities in a CPSR compliant environment.   


    • Procure material, equipment, supplies, services and commodity products of medium to high Value, high volume and complexity.
    • Act as a primary Peraton point of contact to support classified proposals and manage overall relationships with critical OEM suppliers in order to facilitate continued long-term partnerships.
    • Has significant understanding of various OEM and IT value-added reseller (VARS) products and partners in the information technology space.
    • Organizes and completes purchasing files according to company policies, procedures, public and DCMA-CPSR requirements.
    • Provide timely follow up on all awards through completion of order using system reports to status for program teams.
    • Lead or participate on special procurement projects and teams as assigned.  Develop solutions to a variety of problems of moderate scope and complexity.
    • Confer with internal stakeholders and suppliers to determine factors that affect competitive total cost of ownership consistent with quality, reliability, and ability to meet required schedules.  Evaluate root cause and corrective action with suppliers on late delivery performance.
    • Build stable working relationships with proposal capture & program teams regarding procurement requirements through early involvement to assist with market research, capability assessments with programs and suppliers to determine risk mitigation actions for critical path items and services.
    • Exercise considerable latitude and approaches to assignments. Also develops strategic solutions to complex challenges for effective procurement and program performance.



    • Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) with 8+ years’ of experience, or a Masters’ with 6+ years’ experience in Supply Chain Management, Logistics Management, Economics, Finance, Accounting, Operations Management, General Business Management or Business Administration required. 
    • 5+ years of experience preparing Request for Proposals (RFPs) and Request for Quotes (RFQs), Blanket Purchase Agreements (BPA) and any other types of agreements as per FAR Part 12, 13 & 15.
    • 5+ years of experience performing strategic and meaningful negotiations in the areas of price, performance, delivery and quality of products/services.
    • 5+ years of experience evaluating supplier bids for compliance to requirements for capability, price and other factors to attain the best overall value for Peraton and the end customer.
    • Active TS level clearance 


    • Highly skilled, proficient, with a strategic & solutions oriented analytical ability in sourcing for proposal bill of materials.
    • Highly skilled in executing CPSR-compliant purchase orders, based on approved requisitions, requests for proposals/quotes, bids and other similar and necessary documents related to the purchasing of commodities/services in support of a government prime contract.
    • Proficient with price analysis and ability to justify for competitive, single/sole source best value with Trade-Off, Technical Responsive Low Price, and Low Price Evaluations per the requirements and determining commerciality.
    • Proficient in working with stakeholders in performing market research and negotiations with suppliers, inclusive of terms and conditions negotiation.
    • Must be a high energy self-starter with excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • Ability to multi-task in a deadline driven environment and be solutions oriented.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Excel is required
    • Experienced using Costpoint procurement system preferred.



    This position requires the candidate to obtain and maintain a TS level security clearance.  To obtain a clearance, you need to be a U.S. Citizen and show proof of citizenship.
