    Peraton is seeking a RF Engineer in Reston, VA to support our government and commercial customers.

     

    Responsibilities

    This position will be responsible for the following: In this role the Cellular RF System Architect will be part of a small forward looking team that will be tasked with driving Cellular Radio technologies addressing GSM, UMTS, LTE, LTE-A, and beyond. The individual will work closely with platform architecture, RF design teams, and suppliers to assess, scope, and ultimately drive RF technology innovation to meet the challenges of next generation wireless products.

    Serves as a technical subject matter expert and may be required to do in depth analysis of new features and technologies. Mentors Associate Radio Frequency (RF) Engineers for technical growth.

    Qualifications

    REQUIRED

    • Solid understanding of E-UTRAN to UE Layer 3 ( NAS and RRC
    • Undersigning of UEs network selection or reselection and mobility algorithm
    • Exposure to GTP/GTPV2, IP, Diameter and SCTP to help in device monitoring and testing
    • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
    • Understanding of RF propagation.
    • Familiar with wireless technologies CDMA, EVDO, GSM, W-CDMA and LTE.
    • Familiar with engineering software and equipment.
    • Understanding of cellular network architecture and engineering experience desirable (eNodeB, BTS, MSC, EPC, IMS, SMS, QoS etc.)
    • Data System Design / Optimization including: VoLTE / LTE / GSM /HSDPA cells infrastructure, RF Propagation
    • Mastery of RF propagation principles, cellular theory, RF engineering tools and antenna theory.
    • Experience analyzing logs, troubleshooting issues from field or lab for GSM/GPRS/EDGE/HSPA/LTE.
    • Familiar with relevant 3GPP standards
    • Experience evaluating, designing, implementing and updating layers of cellular protocol software, specifically L2 (PDCP, RLC, MAC), L3 (RRC, NAS), Logical L1 and interfacing to upper and lower layers.
    • TS/SCI eligible and willingness to perform customer polygraph.

    PREFERRED:

    • General eNodeB design and integration, operation
    • Integrating 3rd party LTE protocol stacks in a commercial product.
    • Call processing in LTE eNodeB
    • Development and testing of LTE RRM, UE state machine, UE attach, detach, S1 HO, X2 HO and dedicated radio bearer procedures
    • Development of LTE Operational and Management modules like Device handler module and command line interface module
    • Testing of LTE x2ap, s1ap , handover processes
    • Testing of QoS, link adaptation and RACH
    • Designing and utilizing complex test setups to test advanced LTE features
    • Development and testing of LTE Release 9 and 10 (and later) features
    • Interoperability testing between eNodeB and EPCs
    • LTE PHY layer standard
    • TS/SCI w/polygraph

     

    SECURITY CLEARANCE:

    This position requires the candidate to obtain TS/SCI with Polygraph security clearance and to maintain the clearance.
