    Peraton has an opening for a Senior Electrical Engineer with Aircraft Electrical Power System experience to join our team in Lexington Park, Maryland (Patuxent River Naval Air Base), in support of our NAVAIR customer.


    This position is located in the customer’s Legacy Electrical Power Systems Branch, of the Power and Energy Division, of the Propulsion and Power Engineering Department, Research and Engineering Group of the Naval Air Systems Command. The scope of the work performed has direct impact on Aircraft Electrical Power System performance, operation and support cost. Operational suitability, safety, reliability, and readiness of the operational system. The affected Electrical Power System Programs are valued in the multimillion-dollar range annually.


    Position will be responsible for the following:

    • Defines electrical power system and interface requirements for weapon systems. Responsible for the portions of the weapon system and electrical power system detail specifications pertaining to assigned system areas and their interface.
    • Evaluates design proposals received in response to formal competition, as well as unsolicited, for weapon systems, and weapons’ electrical power systems including the interface thereof, and submits formal evaluations and recommendations to the customer.
    • Manages and participates in the engineering effort involved in the research, design, development, test, and evaluation and production engineering of electrical power systems, as assigned, as well as the correction of service problems with Fleet systems. Manages engineering and test programs for assigned Fleet electrical power systems and equipment to ensure the highest level of readiness.
    • The individual has the responsibility for performing the following configuration management duties: a. Evaluates ECPs (Engineering Change Proposals) for engineering, program, and financial practicality; b. has authority to recommend or to disapprove ECPs and is responsible for the coordination of acceptable ECPs with other elements within the Naval Aviation System Team (NAST).
    • Prepares official correspondence and written briefings for management review. Prepares and presents oral briefings on technical and management aspects of assigned systems and programs. Originates and prepares various documents such as Procurement Requests (PRs), Test and Evaluation Master Plan (TEMP), Approval for Production (AFP), to support system development and production contracts.



    • Education required: Minimum requirements are a BS degree in Engineering, Science, or Math and 8+ years of professional experience of progressively more responsible work; or an advanced degree (MS) with 6+ years of professional experience.
    • Electrical Power Systems experience is required, preferably related to aircraft and aircraft-related systems.
    • Knowledge of the concepts, principles and practices of engineering that enable the incumbent to serve as an expert in the design, development, test, evaluation and service application of electrical power systems under the severe altitude, attitude, temperature, vibration, and shock conditions associated with airborne applications is strongly preferred.


    • Ability to execute and handle technically challenging Aircraft Electrical Power System programs.
    • Ability to perform trade-offs between cost and capability is a routine requirement.
    • Ability to develop, prepare, and present technical advice to higher program authority and to Integrated Program team members.

    This position requires the candidate to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.  In order to obtain a clearance, you need to be a U.S. Citizen and show proof of citizenship.
