    Peraton is seeking a Facilities Air Conditioning Technician to join our team at the White Sands Complex which is located in Las Cruces, NM. Peraton is the prime contractor on the Space Communications Network Services (SCNS) contract, supporting the NASA Tracking and Data Relay Satellite System. 


     


    This is a Facilities Air Conditioning Technician position and is subject to working rotating shifts, weekends and holidays on a rotational basis as a part of normal shift scheduling. The selected candidate, will perform duties at the White Sands Complex (WSC) applying technical knowledge to solve problems that typically can be solved by properly interpreting manufacturer’s manuals or similar documents in working with equipment. 

    Responsibilities


    • Operate, maintain, repair, install, adjust and troubleshoot all types of air conditioning equipment including controls, SCADA systems and electrical power to such equipment.

    • Develop a working knowledge of the functions and operations of the operational equipment, systems and controls at WSC.

    • Perform duties consistent with this classification as assigned by management with limited supervision and provide technical guidance to lower level classifications as required.

    • Perform maintenance and repair of chillers, pumps, air handling equipment, package units, cooling towers, VAV systems, and humidification systems.

    • Install small refrigeration systems

    • Replace compressors, fans, coils etc. on systems up to 150 tons.

    • This position may perform tasks working as a member of a team with other classifications providing help and assistance as required.

    Qualifications

    REQUIRED 



    • High School diploma (or equivalent).

    • 2 years of applicable experience in the HVAC construction or maintenance field and related civilian or military trade school training or equivalent, or a minimum of 5 years of experience in lieu of a trade school.  

    • Must be able to pass an initial and periodic physical examination as determined by the physical examination requirements for the Job Classification as follows:

      • Mobile Aerial Platform operation (MAP)

      • Powered Industrial Truck operation (PIT)

      • Respirator and other PPE use



    • Must be able to lift 35 lbs.

    • Must have the manual dexterity and mobility to climb ladders, scaffolds, antennas, and rooftops.  

    • Must possess a current EPA Refrigerant Recovery Card, Class II or higher. 

    • Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license (state) and may be required to possess and maintain a valid Commercial Driver’s License for specific task(s).

    • This is a union position – you will be required to become a member of IAM Local Union 2515 and remain in good standing.


    PREFERRED



    • Licensed in Refrigeration or other HVAC based field.

    • Basic computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite, email, and electronic time recording.

    • Experience with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems, such as Maximo.

    • Experience operating and maintaining mobile aerial platforms and powered industrial trucks.

    • Experience in general maintenance and construction.


     


    SECURITY CLEARANCE
    This position requires the candidate to be able to obtain and maintain a secret security clearance.  In order to obtain a clearance you need to be a US Citizen and show proof of citizenship.
