    Peraton is seeking a Facilities Maintenance Technician to join our team at the White Sands Complex which is located in Las Cruces, NM. Peraton is the prime contractor on the Space Communications Network Services (SCNS) contract, supporting the NASA Tracking and Data Relay Satellite System. 


     


    This is a Facilities Electrician position and is subject to working rotating shifts, weekends and holidays on a rotational basis as a part of normal shift scheduling. The selected candidate, must meet all requirements and perform all duties of the Facilities Electrical Technician as stated below.  

    Responsibilities


    • Apply technical knowledge to solve problems that cannot be solved solely by reference to manufacturer’s manuals or similar documents. 

    • Install, adjust, maintain, and trouble shoot all electrical items including, but not limited to control/SCADA systems, power generation and distribution systems and UPS systems. 

    • Be able to work from electrical schematics and trace circuitry when schematics are not available. 

    • Be familiar with National Electrical Codes and OSHA requirements. 

    • Develop a working knowledge of the functions and operations of the operational equipment, systems and controls at WSC. 

    • Specify and price equipment and parts to perform assigned tasks.

    • Perform duties consistent with this classification as assigned by management with limited supervision and provide technical guidance to lower level classifications as required. 

    • This position may perform tasks working as a member of a team with other classifications providing help and assistance as required. 

    Qualifications

    REQUIRED 



    • High School diploma (or equivalent).

    • Have 2 years of applicable experience in the electrical construction or maintenance field and related civilian or military trade school training or equivalent, or a minimum of 5 years of experience in lieu of a trade school. 

    • Must possess a New Mexico JE-98 certification or equivalent from another state. A current license/certification issued by a military agency can be used as a substitute.

    • Must be able to pass an initial and periodic physical examination, as determined by the physical examination requirements for the Job Classification, as follows:

      • Mobile Aerial Platform operation (MAP)

      • Powered Industrial Truck operation (PIT)

      • Respirator and other PPE use



    • Must be able to lift 35 lbs.

    • Must have the manual dexterity and mobility to climb ladders, scaffolds, antennas, and rooftops.   

    • This is a union position - you will be required to become a member of IAM Local Union 2515 and remaining in good standing.

    • Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license (state) and may be required to possess and maintain a valid Commercial Driver’s License for specific task(s).


    PREFERRED



    • Basic computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite, email, and electronic time recording.

    • Experience with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems, such as Maximo.

    • Experience operating and maintaining mobile aerial platforms and powered industrial trucks

    • Experience in general maintenance and construction.


    SECURITY CLEARANCE
    This position requires the candidate to be able to obtain and maintain a secret security clearance.  In order to obtain a clearance you need to be a US Citizen and show proof of citizenship.
