    We are seeking an AQS24 Sonar Operator to support our Navy customer small USV Mine Hunting operations in Panama City, FL and Manama, Bahrain.  

     

    Position is home ported in Bahrain. Paid travel and pre-deployment training will be conducted at various US locations, but primarily in Panama City, FL for approximately 60 days prior to deploying to Bahrain. Position requires a one-year minimum deployment to Bahrain.

     

    The AQS24 Sonar Operator is part of an Unmanned Surface Vessel Mine Hunting Team and will integrate into a small team charged with operations and maintenance of deployed systems in support of US Navy mine countermeasures (MCM) missions in the U.S. Fifth Fleet Area of Responsibility. The small craft employed (11 meter RHIB) is equipped with Launch and Recovery (L&R) hardware that requires daily maintenance and minor repairs. Assigned unit mission tasking will support data collection, test and evaluation of prototype equipment, and analysis for objectives in various harbor areas, littorals and shipping lanes. Operations will be conducted from small boats deployed from shore, embarked various Navy Units Afloat and/or from Forward Operating bases.

    Responsibilities

    The AQS24 Sonar Operator is responsible for:

    • Operation of the AQS24 Sonar         
    • Assisting in performance of AQS-24 Sonar preventative and corrective maintenance to the operational level, and up to the 28-day maintenance schedules
    • Assisting with SONAR Data collection
    • Providing an overall understanding of AQS24 Sonar systems and subsystems
    • Assisting with mission planning as needed
    • Candidate may be required to perform installation, troubleshooting, and repair of mechanical, electrical, and electronic assemblies and systems related to the mission systems and subsystems

    Qualifications

    REQUIRED:

    • Minimum qualifications are a High School diploma and 8+ years of directly related experience, an Associate's degree and 6 years of experience, or a Bachelor’s Degree and 2+ years of experience. Military and technical training is highly desired and may be substituted for a degree.
    • Minimum of two years of experience conducting high resolution hydrographic surveys using acoustic devices as the imaging source.
    • Willing to work a minimum of one year in Bahrain (travel and lodging provided by company).

     Physical requirements:  Physical within the last 12 months due to possible remote locations of operations

     

    PREFERRED:

    • US Navy experience
    • AQS24 Technician, Boat Coxswain, and related mechanical experience
    • Knowledge in basic electricity and electronic troubleshooting
    • Relevant maritime operations skills and experience

     

      SECURITY CLEARANCE: This position requires the candidate to already possess an active Secret level clearance and to maintain the clearance.
