  • Overview

    Peraton is actively seeking a Procurement Specialist based out of our Greenbelt, MD office. The successful candidate will work under general direction. Participate in determining objectives of assignment. Plans schedules and arranges own activities in accomplishing objectives.  Demonstrate an understanding and application of principles, concepts, practices and standards. Detailed knowledge and understanding of negotiation methods and techniques, manufacturing processes, industry standards, the Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR), Uniform Commercial Code (UCC), Sarbanes-Oxley compliance and ITAR (International Traffic in Arms Regulations). Prepare proposal requests consistent with the requirements of the contract. Develop new sources of supply based on quality product, on-time delivery and competitive pricing. Solicit and award purchase orders consistent with the requirements of the contract. 

    Responsibilities

    The Specialist will be responsible for sourcing, scheduling and purchasing, goods and services of varying complexity, through the procurement process, including but not limited to:

    • Procures materials, equipment, and commodity products of medium to high complexity and value for government and commercial programs. 
    • Negotiates with suppliers, evaluates bids, and selects suppliers based on price, delivery, quality, and service. 
    • Resolve problems and make recommendations. Interface with materiel, engineering, quality, and program management. 
    • Monitor activities against department objectives and submit performance reports to management. 
    • Utilize MRP systems, Deltek Costpoint and Maximo. 
    • Assist in development of strategic supplier relationships. 
    • Participate and/or lead projects/teams as assigned. 
    • Identifies process improvements and facilitates implementation.
    • Mentor or supervise support staff.
    • Attend meetings & conference calls with programs to manage more complex procurements.

     

    Qualifications

    REQUIRED:

    • Bachelor's Degree in Business or related field, and at least 5 years of experience as a Buyer.
    • 5+ years of experience working in procurement, supply chain, and material management processes.
    • 5+ years of expereince working with FAR, DFARS and FAA Regulations and ITAR
    • 5+years of experience using Deltek Costpoint and Maximo

    PREFERRED:

    • Working knowledge of the 
    • Organized, detail-oriented and refined time management skills
    • Excellent analytical and communication skills (both written and verbal)
    • Work independently and demonstrate sound judgment under high stress, time critical deadlines
    • Dedication to standard process implementation
    • Excellent problem solving and decision making skills
    • Ability to meet stringent deadlines and able to work effectively in team environment
    • Knowledge of CPSR requirements
