  • Overview

    Peraton is seeking a Technical Facilities Manager to join our team in Fort Irwin, CA to support our Deep Space Network (DSN) Operations and Maintenance O&M contract with the Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) and NASA. The Technical  Facilities Manager will assume the overall responsibility of the Goldstone Support Services Department and will be responsible for the performance and maintenance of the facilities. The selected individual is responsible for control and monitoring systems, HVAC, Fire Detection & Suppression, Electrical and Power Generation and Distribution Systems, Water and Waste systems, and all civil systems.


    • Establish department objectives, work plans, schedules, and ensures resources are available for completion of complex technical projects and serves as a primary customer interface for departmental group issues.
    • Participate in the department strategic planning process; develops long-term plans and ensures appropriate skills are available when needed.
    • Evaluate and analyze current work methods to foster continuous improvement and develop and implement new processes and procedures, as needed.
    • Analyze tasks to establish needed staff personnel skill mixes to accomplish chartered work.
    • Administer and responsible for the department’s safety program.
    • Ensures that all safety and security requirements are met for the department.
    • Coordinate and leads activities of subordinates and cross-functional teams.   
    • Conduct performance evaluations, plans salary actions, recommends promotions, interprets and applies organization policies, and provides leadership toward resolving employee problems.
    • Champions, coaches and motivates teams and/or team members as well as providing career development and training for subordinates.
    • Conduct meetings and technical presentations to peers and senior leadership.
    • Position is guided by department/program objectives as largely defined by customer Area of Emphasis (AOE). 
    • Provides direction to staff and assists with the development of department and company initiatives.
    • Develop long-range plans for enhancing service performance to both internal and external customers. Decisions may have a major impact on the overall success of the department or programs
    • Power Systems experience

    • Exhibits full use of standard theories, principles, concepts and techniques associated with maintenance of responsible systems.

    • Knowledge of advanced aspects of technical specialties in assigned area (s) of responsibilities.
    • Provide programmatic and contractual energy conservation measures and renewable energy projects.

    • Oversee local implementation of capital work projects to include NASA/JPL designated Construction of Facilities (CoF) tasks. 



    • BA/BS degree, in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering and 10 + years of related experience.
    • 5+years of demonstrated leadership/supervisory experience in a team-oriented environment  ( including the ability to counsel, coach, develop, and motivate technical maintenance team individals; including team building and facilitation skills)
    • 3+ years experience of full use of standard theories, principles, concepts and techniques associated with maintenance of responsible systems ( HVAC, Fire Detection & Suppression, Electrical and Power Generation and Distribution Systems, Water and Waste systems, and all civil systems)


    • Excellent working relationships with all internal and external customers
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
    • Able to work independently as well as in a team environment. 

    • Experience working with Union Employees.




    This position requires the candidate to be able to obtain a trusted background check and pass a National Criminal Information Check (NCIC).  In order to obtain a clearance you need to be a US Citizen and show proof of citizenship.
