  • Overview

    Peraton is seeking an On-Call (Part-Time) Radar Engineering professional to join the Range Instrumentation Support (RIS) team to support the X-Band Transportable Radar (XTR-1) on the Pacific Tracker currently berthed in Portland, OR.  This position will provide surge support as needed and does not require relocation to Portland, OR.

    Responsibilities

    Specific duties will include: 

    • Operations and maintenance of radar systems to include working on high powered transmitters, receivers, modulators, timing and control systems, cabling and the associated interconnects.
    • Implementing multitude of test equipment for testing and troubleshooting system issues.
    • Working with schematic drawings, specifications and vendor technical documentation related to electromechanical systems.
    • Job location is on a ship (both in port and at sea) and the candidate will be required to work in that environment, and will need to climb in order to perform maintenance on the antenna if required.
    • Position will require sailing with the Pacific Tracker for mission support. Mission schedules vary, but could require up to four (4) deployments in a year that each last approximately four (4) weeks.

    Qualifications

    Required:

    • A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or other related technical discipline and 8+ years of related technical experience. Without a degree, 14+ years of related technical experience is required.
    • 8+ years of general work with mobile sea-based radar systems.
    • Ability to climb and meet the physical requirements of the position, in order to perform maintenance on the antenna as needed.

    Preferred: 

    • Self-driven and resourceful to achieve goals independently as well as work well in groups.
    • Ability to work in a team environment
    • Flexibility to adjust to changing requirements, schedules and priorities.
    • The ability to socialize ideas, make recommendations and gather team consensus to move forward.

    SECURITY CLEARANCE: This position requires the candidate to already have a current Secret or Top Secret security clearance and to maintain the clearance.
