  • Overview

    We have an immediate opening for an Alternate Facility Security Officer (AFSO), here in our Herndon, VA office.  The candidate must be self-driven, organized, and a results oriented individual capable of effectively working multiples tasks. The AFSO will work closely with FSOs, security counterparts, and functional areas supporting DOD and Intelligence programs. 

    Responsibilities

    • Provide security-related briefings, debriefings, and training as required by the NISPOM and clients.
    • Provide pre and post foreign travel briefings in accordance with government requirements.
    • Ensure the proper preparation and review of draft/original/revised DD254s.
    • Track status of contracts and provide updates to the FSOs.  
    • Verify security clearance status for visitors and potential new employees, subcontractors, and consultants.
    • Prepare visit requests for access to job sites based on appropriate clearance and need to know.
    • Administer badging and access requirements for personnel, including paperwork for government or other contractor facilities as needed.
    • Oversee security clearance process for employees, including; process personnel for new clearances, track and notify employees of periodic reinvestigations, manage the Joint Personnel Adjudication System (JPAS) database, and Security Information Management System (SIMS) and related files.
    • Familiarity with managing and marking documents to include experience with conducting inventories and transmitting material.
    • Prepare and report adverse information requests via JPAS, and reports to customers as directed by the contract.
    • Ability to assist with updating and tracking facility clearance documentation and related information as needed.
    • Support self-inspections and DSS Vulnerability Assessments.
    • Must be aware of present day security issues and the ability to manage customer expectations, internal and external.
    • Understand and ensure compliance with applicable government/company security directives and instructions that include, but are not limited to, NISPOM, DCID, and ICD.
    • Update databases, intelligence files, and other required documents.

    Qualifications

    REQUIRED

    • BS/BA degree, or equivalent security experience, to include 5+ years of office administration and facility security experience.
    • 5+ years of experience using government security regulations, manuals, and processes, to include the NISPOM, NISPOM Supplement, DSS security manuals, and OPSEC principles
    • 5+ years of experience working with the Department of Defense policies and the National Industrial Security Program Operating Manual (NISPOM).
    • Current DSS Facility Security Officer Certification from CDSE. 
    • Active TS/SCI security clearance

    PREFERRED

    • Prior SCI security experience,
    • Excellent communications skills
    • Knowledge and ability to prepare DD254s
    • Proficient with JPAS, SIMS and running reports
    • Knowledge on DoD and SCI clearance requirements
    • Multi-disciplined security knowledge NISPOM, DCID and ICD
    • Proficient with Microsoft Suite
