  • Overview

    Peraton is seeking a Communications Security (COMSEC) Policy Specialist, also known as Regional COMSEC Officer (RCO), in Aurora, CO for a classified program to provide technical programmatic information assurance services to worldwide fielded activities.


    Regional COMSEC Officers (RCO) perform COMSEC inspections based on established NSA and organizational policies, as directed by the Government Program Office. RCOs also provide oversight to approximately 200 COMSEC Responsible Officers (CRO) and COMSEC accounts. RCOs act as a liaison between the COMSEC Staff, Central Office of Record (COR) and all field locations.


    RCO duties include the following:

    • Reports all known or suspected incidents to the COMSEC Staff;
    • Provides guidance and direction to the CRO during any transitional activity to include new location initialization, location conversion and location closure;
    • Provides initial and refresher COMSEC training, and tier 3 device and space program training;
    • Performs COMSEC inspections;
    • Forwards inspection results to the COMSEC Staff for review and recommends appropriate corrective actions for discrepancies found;
    • Ensures CROs complete an inventory of their location’s COMSEC material semiannually;
    • Conducts an inventory, with the location’s CRO, in conjunction with the annual inspection;
    • Generates COMSEC transfer and destruction reports, semiannually and change of manager inventory forms for location CROs, when necessary;
    • Reviews audit trail data to ensure all recorded transactions were accomplished in accordance with prescribed directives;
    • Reviews and validates requests for new COMSEC material. Order COMSEC material via CARDS or the Intermediary Application work-order process, when requested.
    • Validate and approve requests for COMSEC access;
    • Reviews and coordinates disposition of excess COMSEC material;
    • Maintains database information in the communications requirements, the COMSEC material accounting, and distribution databases.



    • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent)
    • 3-5 years of experience in COMSEC roles.



    • DoD 8570 Security+ certification.
    • Ability to collaborate and work in a team environment.



    This position requires the candidate to have a current TS/SCI security clearance with an active Polygraph.
