We are seeking an Aerospace, Nuclear, or Mechanical Engineer or Physicist to support the Air Force Nuclear Weapons Center ICBM Systems Directorate, Airborne Launch Control System Replacement (ALCS-R) Program at Hill Air Force Base, UT. The ALCS-R program is a Command and Control System which provides ICBM launch commands to Launch Facilities in wartime scenarios. This position is currently pending contract award, anticipated mid to late October 2018.
The Nuclear Surety SME will be responsible for integrating nuclear surety requirements into the ICBM system engineering process. These requirements contribute to the security, safety, and reliability of nuclear weapons and to the assurance that there will be no nuclear weapon accidents, incidents, unauthorized weapon detonations, or degradation in performance at the target.
The candidate will support the ICBM Systems Directorate in maintaining its nuclear weapon system surety program in accordance with DoD and Air Force requirements. The SME will assist in tailoring Air Force nuclear surety policies for applicability to new or modified ICBM and ALCS hardware and software components; subsystems and systems; support equipment; ICBM facilities; special test and maintenance programs.
