  • Overview

    Peraton is looking for a Software Engineer to work in our Suitland, MD. Location supporting the

    Geostationary Operational Environmental Satellite – RS Series (GOES-R).  

     

    This is an opportunity to work on a cutting edge technology program responsible for flying the next series of GOES weather satellites and distributing critical weather data to the North American continent.  We have delivered the latest ground system for command and control of this series of satellites which began launches in late 2016 and continue with future launches and will maintain and enhance this system.

    Responsibilities

    • Support system operators by maintaining COTS SW applications for Asset Management to ensure configuration and performance as designed. 
    • Troubleshoot and resolve escalations received through the GOES-R ticketing system and/or phone calls in a timely manner

     

    Qualifications

    REQUIRED:  

    • 6 + years of experience and Bachelors' Degree or Equivalent
    • Configure, integrate, and test changes to OTS software applications
    • Ability to resolve complex problems between OTS soft
    • 3+ years of experience with Configuration and Management of OpenAudit, MySql, Php, Nagios and DevOps tools , Ansible Tower
    • 5+ years of experience with Configuration and Management of Tivoli tool suite including TADDM, TAD4D, MAXIMO, TAMIT, TSRM and CMDB 
    • Experience in writing/tuning impact control scripts.
    • Experience in building dashboards and views.
    • 3+ years of experience in scripting – shell (ksh, csh or bash), python or perl.
    • 5+ years of experience with Red Hat Linux or other Linux OS and/or Unix
    • Strong interpersonal and excellent teamwork skills
    • A self-motivated, task-oriented, and creative individual with the ability to solve problems 
    • Ability to present and explain technical information to diverse types of audiences (management, users, vendors, and technical staff) in a way that establishes rapport, persuades others, and gains understanding

    • Ability to interface with customer while working at the customer’s facility
    • Patch and version upgrade evaluation, planning and installation
    • Adherence to policies, procedures and controls especially in regard to outage and change management, licensing, and information protection
    • Ability to reconfigure Tivoli tool configurations to support specific mission parameters to ensure effective use of the suite tools
    • Support of audit requests for information

    PREFERRED:    

    • Experience with the following OTS software applications is a plus:
    • LDAP
    • Database applications (e.g., Oracle)
    • Experience with Tivoli Tools – ITM, ITNM, TIP, TBSM and Probes
    • Experience with WebLogic
    • PKI
    • Windows Server
