The responsibilities and tasks associated with each requirement play a pivotal role to USSOCOM, the CIO/J6 organization, and ultimately the end-user who operate around the globe 24x7x365.

The Cyber Endpoint Security Systems Engineer is responsible for the technical architecture, detection engineering, automated integration, platform modernization, and attack surface reduction across enterprise endpoint ecosystems. This role engineers and scales the endpoint security platform infrastructure (e.g., architecting resilient topologies, designing migrations to modern capabilities), develops detection-as-code capabilities, architects modern API integrations, and builds automated containment workflows to enhance defensive posture while minimizing operational overhead.

Responsibilities:

  • Architect, test, and deploy resilient, high-availability enterprise endpoint security platform topologies (e.g., multi-tier Trellix ePO clustered databases, load-balanced Agent Handlers in DMZs and segmented cloud environments).
  • Lead strategic modernization initiatives, including re-architecting legacy on-premises endpoint security infrastructure.
  • Design and test migration paths for legacy point products.
  • Engineer multi-platform agent compatibility across enterprise operating systems, microservices, containerized workloads, and non-persistent VDI environments.
  • Formulate platform sizing, compute/storage scalability models, network bandwidth throttles, and disaster recovery architectures (RTO/RPO) for all endpoint security management systems.
  • Develop, test, and deploy custom behavioral detection rules (mapped directly to the MITRE ATT&CK framework) to catch novel adversary tradecraft, persistence mechanisms, and lateral movement.
  • Engineer host-level Attack Surface Reduction (ASR) baselines, including Windows Defender Application Control (WDAC), Trellix Application Control/Solidcore execution control baselines, Credential Guard, Exploit Guard, and Linux kernel security modules (SELinux/AppArmor).
  • Establish and govern the policy lifecycle for exclusions, behavioral suppression rules, and tamper-protection configurations before handing off operational execution to Administrators.
  • Design endpoint telemetry streaming pipelines to route high-fidelity endpoint events into SIEM and data lake environments in collaboration with the Cyber Analytics Systems Engineer.
  • Operationalize threat intelligence indicators and hunt findings produced by the Cyber Threat Hunter into durable, low-noise detection signatures and automated containment triggers.
  • Serve as the Tier 3 engineering escalation tier for deep OS compatibility bugs, kernel panic/BSOD triage, memory leaks, and complex driver interaction issues caused by defensive agents.
  • Author engineering specifications, platform migration guides, detection-as-code CI/CD pipelines, and structured operational runbooks transitioned to the Cyber Endpoint Security Systems Administrator.
