Peraton is seeking a Front-End UI Developer. This is a hands-on development role serving as the technical bridge between UX Design and Development, transforming approved Figma designs and prototypes into polished, accessible, responsive, and functional user interfaces.
The role combines front-end development, UX/UI design skills, Figma proficiency, AI-assisted development, rapid prototyping, and emerging technology to ensure design intent is maintained through implementation.
The Front-End UI Developer is expected to operate within the UX team’s Raising the Bar standards, bringing commercial-grade quality, craftsmanship, communication, velocity, and attention to detail to every deliverable.
Hands-On UI Development
- Directly develop and implement production-quality front-end interfaces, not simply provide recommendations or development guidance.
- Translate high-fidelity Figma designs and interactive prototypes into functional UI code.
- Build responsive interfaces using HTML5, CSS, JavaScript/TypeScript, React, Angular, or applicable modern frameworks.
- Support UI development across responsive web, native mobile/iOS, SharePoint, Sitecore, and enterprise platforms.
- Develop reusable UI components, interaction patterns, design tokens, and front-end design-system elements.
- Partner with backend engineering to integrate polished presentation layers with APIs, services, data, and enterprise systems.
- Conduct implementation reviews and directly correct UI inconsistencies when appropriate.
UX-to-Development Liaison
- Serve as the primary technical bridge between UX and development, protecting design intent throughout implementation.
- Work directly within Figma alongside UX designers to understand interaction behavior, responsive rules, component states, accessibility requirements, and design rationale.
- Identify technical considerations early enough to influence designs before development handoff.
- Ensure production interfaces accurately reflect approved designs across layout, typography, spacing, hierarchy, interaction, responsiveness, animation, and component behavior.
- Help eliminate the traditional gap between a polished UX prototype and the final developed product.
AI-Enabled Development
- Actively incorporate AI-assisted development tools into daily workflows to increase speed, quality, and delivery capacity.
- Use AI to accelerate code generation, refactoring, debugging, prototyping, documentation, accessibility evaluation, test creation, design-to-code workflows, and technical exploration.
- Use AI to rapidly transform concepts and Figma designs into functional prototypes and proofs of concept.
- Evaluate AI-generated code and output through human technical judgment, security requirements, accessibility standards, performance, and maintainability.
- Continuously evaluate emerging AI capabilities that can improve the UX-to-development workflow.
AI is expected to increase capability and velocity—not replace engineering judgment.
Rapid Prototyping & Emerging Technology
- Build functional prototypes supporting Phase Zero, Art of the Possible, usability testing, and stakeholder demonstrations.
- Rapidly explore new interaction models before significant development investment.
- Support experiences across native mobile/iOS, wearables, VR/XR, mixed reality, spatial computing, immersive technology, and emerging platforms.
- Collaborate with UX Architects and Designers to determine when emerging technology provides meaningful user or mission value.
Quality & Craft
- Deliver interfaces that meet the UX team’s commercial-grade quality standard.
- Maintain pixel-level attention to spacing, alignment, typography, responsive behavior, component consistency, states, motion, and interaction details.
- Benchmark implementation quality against leading commercial digital products.
- Ensure front-end experiences meet Section 508, WCAG, semantic markup, keyboard navigation, responsive design, and inclusive-design requirements.
- Treat accessibility, performance, responsiveness, and visual quality as part of development—not final QA activities.
Figma & Design Systems
- Work proficiently with Figma Auto Layout, components, variants, variables, Dev Mode, design tokens, responsive layouts, prototypes, and shared libraries.
- Maintain alignment between Figma design-system components and production UI components.
- Contribute reusable components and patterns rather than repeatedly solving the same UI problems.
- Maintain clean, scalable, documented component architecture supporting both UX and development teams.
Collaboration & Raising the Bar
- Participate in internal design and code reviews before client-facing delivery.
- Collaborate closely with UX Architects, UX Designers, researchers, accessibility specialists, developers, and technical architects.
- Communicate technical considerations clearly to both design and development teams.
- Demonstrate professional client presence when participating in demonstrations, technical discussions, and stakeholder reviews.
- Contribute to shared templates, patterns, documentation, and reusable team resources.
- Challenge implementations that do not meet established UX, accessibility, or quality standards.
- Take ownership of the quality of the presentation layer from Figma through implementation.
