Responsibilities

Peraton is currently recruiting for a LAN Team Lead.

The LAN Team Lead provides technical leadership, operational management, and hands-on technical expertise for the Local Area Network (LAN) infrastructure supporting the U.S. Army Global Cyber Center (GCC). Leading a dedicated squad of 4–5 network technicians and analysts, this position ensures continuous, end-to-end operational readiness, availability, and security across dual-fabric NIPRNET and SIPRNET enterprise networks.

The Team Lead bridges strategic operations with day-to-day tactical execution: managing multi-vendor switching platforms, structured cable plant logistics, network access control, communication closet environmental and power systems, and equipment lifecycle accountability, while actively interfacing with Army leadership and defense stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, task-manage, and direct a team of 4–5 network technician and analysts executing 24/7/365 mission-readiness tasks across GCC enterprise environments.
  • Manage workload distribution, AESMP ticketing queues, authorized service interruptions (ASIs), and incident escalation paths to ensure strict adherence to mission SLAs.
  • As needed, represent the LAN team and provide technical operational status across recurring military and contractor governance forums:
    • Transport Branch Huddles and Operational Syncs with Military and Government leadership.
    • Technical Review Board (TRB) for Change Requests (CRQs) and ASI reviews.
    • Cybersecurity Risk Review Boards (RRB) for Plan of Action and Milestones (POA&M) tracking.
    • Staffing huddles and contractor/government leadership synchronizations.
  • Manage and participate in the rotating on-call support roster, serving as primary escalation lead for urgent network outages, comm closet environmental emergencies, and critical restoral efforts.
  • Author and maintain Technical Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Methods of Procedure (MOPs), and change documentation for all scheduled maintenance windows.
  • Oversee switch configuration integrity by validating and maintaining running-configuration to startup-configuration synchronization across all production network devices.
  • Manage, assign, and audit enterprise Virtual Local Area Networks (VLANs), static IP/VLAN mapping tables, and trunk/access port allocations for GCC workstations, servers, VoIP systems, and peripherals.
  • Formalize, update, and maintain comprehensive physical and logical network architecture diagrams, conduit pathway routing, rack elevations, and interface connectivity maps utilizing Microsoft Visio.
  • Direct equipment lifecycle decommissioning and property accountability in compliance with Army regulations, executing DA Form 3161 property transfers, Global Combat Support System-Army (GCSS-A) hand receipt updates, and Configuration Management Database (CMDB) asset tracking.
  • Maintain 100% compliance with Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) STIG standards, Command Cyber Operational Readiness Assessments (CORA), Cybersecurity Service Provider (CSSP) criteria, and Information Assurance Vulnerability Alerts (IAVAs).
  • Oversee switch configuration integrity by validating and maintaining running-configuration to startup-configuration synchronization across all production network devices.
  • Manage, assign, and audit enterprise Virtual Local Area Networks (VLANs), static IP/VLAN mapping tables, and trunk/access port allocations for GCC workstations, servers, VoIP systems, and peripherals.
  • Plan and navigate physical pathway and conduit routing constraints, actively resolving conduit over-utilization, pathways approaching physical capacity, and historical labeling backlogs.
  • Direct network de-provisioning, hardware relocation, temporary routing, and re-installation efforts during large-scale facility renovations (such as raised floor replacements and comm closet remodels).

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements

  • Physical Capabilities: Must be able to routinely lift and maneuver network hardware, UPS batteries, and server appliances weighing up to 40+ lbs.
  • Physical Maneuverability: Ability to climb ladders, work above drop ceilings, crawl in confined sub-floor spaces, and maneuver behind densely cabled server racks.
  • Operational Availability: Must participate in on-call rotation (24/7 responsiveness for high-priority network outages, thermal alerts, or facility contingencies).
