Senior Software Engineer

We are looking for an experienced Senior Software Engineer to lead the design and development of advanced content visualization solutions built on OpenSearch. This role includes architectural ownership, leadership, and delivery of highly scalable, mission-focused visualization capabilities.

 

• Architect, build, and optimize complex visualization solutions.
• Lead design for data ingestion, index modeling, and aggregation strategies.
• Develop custom plugins, React components, or visualization extensions.
• Partner with product owners and engineering teams to translate mission needs.
• Resolve performance and scalability challenges.
• Enforce quality, security, and maintainability.
• Evaluate new technologies and evolve the visualization platform.

Required

 

• Active TS/SCI with relevant polygraph.
• Bachelor’s degree and 12 years of experience, or a master’s degree and 10 years of experience, or a PhD with 7 years of experience; four years of additional experience may be substituted in lieu of a degree.
• 5+ years with OpenSearch/Elasticsearch and dashboard customization.
• Deep expertise in search optimization, indexing, and tuning.
• Strong proficiency with JavaScript/TypeScript and React.
• Experience developing custom plugins for OpenSearch/Kibana.
• Proven ability to design scalable pipelines.
• Strong distributed systems and REST API understanding.
• Cloud, containerization, and CI/CD experience.

 

Preferred Qualifications

 

• Experience with observability stacks or mission-centric search systems.
• Integration of OpenSearch visualizations into enterprise apps.
• Work in security/compliance-heavy environments.

$176,000 - $282,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual’s experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
