Responsibilities

Peraton is currently seeking to hire an experienced Scrum Master.

 

Location: Rosslyn, VA - Flexible for occasional telework – must be local to work location.

 

As the Scrum Master in this role, you will: 

 

  • Manage, support, and coach teams in Agile frameworks, methodologies, principles, and practices to deliver high quality products and services to a global Federal customer.
  • Schedule, prepare for, and facilitate Agile ceremonies including Product Backlog Refinements (PBRs), Daily Stand Ups (DSUs), demos, and Program Increment (PI) Planning events. Participate in meetings to ensure cross-team collaboration and delivery/deployment of products and services.
  • Coordinate and guide the entire program to higher levels of Agile maturity. Help the team focus on daily and iteration goals in the context of current PI objectives.
  • Assess customer requirements, objectives, and priorities to better inform and guide Agile practices.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders, internal operations and engineering teams, external trains, and other scrum master’s to help drive decision-making that support organizational goals.
  • Assist teams and product owners with managing backlog, documenting acceptance criteria, assessing scope, and ranking and prioritizing work items.
  • Identify and track dependencies both to and from the program and collaborate with the other trains on action items.
  • Assist teams and product owners with updating task tracking tools (Jira, Confluence, SharePoint). Review and audit task tracking tools to ensure adherence to Agile practices and processes.
  • Collaborate with Release Train Engineers (RTE) to ensure guidance, processes, and training materials are current/updated.
  • Drive development of comprehensive, executive-level dashboards that provide essential Agile information to program leadership.
  • Identify impediments to, and improvements for, long-term Agile success by promoting transparency and communication and fostering a safe environment for escalating issues or blockers.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

 

To be considered for this position, you must at minimum meet the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed below:

 

  • 14 years with a Bachelor's degree; 12 years with a Masters; 9 years with a PhD. An additional 4 years of relevant experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree requirement.
  • Applicants must currently hold one of the following professional certifications or obtain one prior to start date (continued certification required):
    • CASP+ CE, CISSP (or Associate), CSSLP, Security+ CE, Project+, Agile Scrummaster
  • Minimum 3 years of experience working as a Scrum Master, Project Coordinator, or Project Manager, preferably for a federal customer.
  • Working knowledge of Agile methodologies, techniques, and frameworks, such as Scrum or Kanban.
  • A proven track record of successfully supporting programs using Agile methodologies, preferably for a software development, database management, infrastructure, or network environment with multi-function teams.
  • Demonstrated experience facilitating and participating in Agile ceremonies/meetings, coordinating projects and work, creating/distributing minutes, and action items, and tracking action items to completion.
  • Experience with project tracking and collaboration tools (Jira, SharePoint, MS Teams, and/or Confluence).
  • Demonstrated strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience providing operational task support in a highly demanding environment.
  • U.S. citizenship required.
  •  Active Secret security clearance with the ability to obtain a final Top Secret security clearance.

Target Salary Range

$135,000 - $216,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual’s experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
