Responsibilities

We are seeking a Digital/Servo Maintenance Supervisor to join our team supporting the Space Communications Network Services Contract (DSN) with NASA.

 

Under minimal supervision, the Antenna Systems Digital/Servo Maintenance Supervisor oversees, directs, and controls technicians who maintain and modify GDSCC Tracking Station equipment related to Digital/Servo and Antenna systems and subsystems. This equipment includes commercial off-the-shelf general-purpose computer systems and peripherals, special-purpose Digital/Servo computer devices, and electronics associated with the control and monitoring of Digital/Servo antenna, surveillance, and telecommunications systems used for spacecraft tracking, telemetry, and control.

This role requires advanced technical knowledge to troubleshoot and repair failures using subsystem documentation, drawings, and schematics, along with the ability to manage preventive maintenance actions that keep subsystem operation and performance within required standards. The Supervisor must be capable of using state-of-the-art test equipment and common hand and power tools, working independently, and escalating only the most difficult technical problems.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Act as working leader, directing the activities of the Digital/Servo Technician pool during the assigned shift
  • Assign and monitor job tasks for technicians, ensuring work is completed to standard and on schedule
  • Implement Engineering Change Orders and oversee associated documentation
  • Maintain thorough knowledge of all maintenance requirements within the assigned classification
  • Ensure timely and accurate completion of all associated paperwork and record-keeping
  • Provide training and technical guidance to team members as needed
  • Escalate and help resolve the most difficult technical issues
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

 

  • Six years of directly related experience with advanced-technology spacecraft telecommunications systems, transmitters/receivers, Digital/Servo computer/signal processing, and associated control systems
  • Extensive experience with DSN processes governing Test and Transfer
  • Experience with JPL Service Capability Development (SCD) process
  • Experience with JPL Service Execution (SVE) process
  • Ability to recognize potential hazards and follow all safety equipment procedures
  • Ability to follow applicable regulatory agency and site-specific guidelines, and to properly document all job-related activities
  • Must be able to obtain a trusted background check and pass a National Criminal Information Check (NCIC);
  • US citizenship and proof of citizenship required to obtain clearance
  • Must possess and retain a valid California Real ID driver's license

 

Desired Qualifications:

  • BA/BS degree in a technical or engineering-related field
  • Fundamental knowledge of statistical principles for performance analysis and reporting
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Self-motivated, with demonstrated ability to work as a team member and a willingness to be trained

Target Salary Range

$80,000 - $128,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual’s experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
