The Technology Behind America's Homeland Security

Senior Business Development Director — Department of Homeland Security

Peraton | Federal Civilian Sector | DC Metro Area | U.S. Citizenship Required

Lead Peraton's Growth Across One of the Federal Government's Most Mission-Critical Customers.

From CBP at the border to DHS Headquarters setting strategy for the whole enterprise — Homeland Security runs at the speed of real-world events, and the technology powering its mission has to keep pace. Peraton is hiring a Senior Business Development Director to grow our DHS footprint — someone who knows the components, the competitors, and the cadence of how work actually gets shaped inside DHS.

If you've spent your career inside the DHS BD community — and you want a platform that will back your strategy, your relationships, and your biggest pursuits — let's talk.

Why This Role Stands Out

  • A customer with no off-season. DHS missions don't pause. Border security, cyber, immigration, screening, critical infrastructure — the demand for capability is constant and the modernization runway is long.
  • Real deal scale. You'll be leading pursuits in excess of $200M — the kind of wins that move sector numbers and get noticed at the top of the house.
  • A seat at the growth table. You'll operate as an integral member of the Federal Civilian Sector growth team — not buried three layers down.
  • Shape the work, don't react to it. The wins on this account go to the BD professionals who are inside the customer's planning conversations a year ahead of the solicitation. That's the work here.

What You'll Do

  • Own the pipeline. Create, identify, develop, and qualify opportunities aligned to Peraton's strategic campaigns — driving meaningful, measurable revenue growth.
  • Hit the number. Achieve acquisition and sales goals through new business wins, contract recompetes, teaming, and organic program growth.
  • Build the plan. Develop and continuously refresh a strategic growth plan and associated pipeline, consistent with corporate campaign strategy.
  • Be the customer's trusted advisor. Serve as the primary interface with the DHS customer community for assigned opportunities — and build real, durable relationships through effective, consistent communication.
  • Shape what's coming. Influence requirements and acquisition strategies before the formal solicitation lands — the work that separates a good BD professional from a great one.
  • Hunt for what's next. Identify and target new markets, adjacencies, and partnerships that fit Peraton's discriminators.
  • Run a disciplined process. Embrace Peraton's Business Acquisition Process and effectively manage and communicate opportunities, pursuit plans, and risk to leadership and technical teams.
  • Bring solutions to life. Work with internal technical and program management teams to translate capabilities into RFIs, market surveys, white papers, briefings, and major event demonstrations that resonate with the customer.

Qualifications

What You Bring:

Must-Haves

  • 18+ years of related work experience, including 5+ years in business development, capture, or technical/engineering solutions focused on DHS — specifically Headquarters and CBP — and other federal agencies
  • Demonstrated track record of successful pursuits in excess of $100M
  • A successful track record supporting and winning contracts across DHS organizations and the broader federal civilian community
  • Current, broad market relationships and proven success building partnerships with strategic teaming partners (prime and sub)
  • Matured key relationships across DHS and other federal government agencies
  • Ability to think strategically and operate independently
  • Willingness to travel up to 25% for customer and partner meetings and conferences
  • A highly effective communicator equally at home with executives, program managers, and federal customers
  • U.S. Citizenship required; must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance

Nice-to-Haves

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Information Technology or a related field
  • Active Secret security clearance (or higher)
  • Deep, current understanding of customer activities and how to align Peraton's strengths and discriminators
  • High energy, integrity, professionalism, and an unwavering commitment to winning the right way
