Responsibilities

Peraton's Director of Proposal Management will be based out of the Herndon, VA office and will report to the Sr. Director of Proposal management. The Director of Proposal Management will have the following responsibilities:

 

 Team Management Responsibilities include: 

 

  • Manage and lead a team of geographically dispersed proposal management personnel with varying levels of experience.
  • Monitor and understand the Peraton pipeline and prioritize requests for resources
  • Lead direct-report proposal managers through job specific goal setting, performance tracking, mentoring, career progression, and positioning the team for long-term success
  • Supervise and provide leadership and performance guidance to employees and junior staff
  • Monitor proposals to ensure they are following our processes
  • Track, schedule, and coordinate work assignments to support new business capture across Peraton, and keeping the proposal management team highly utilized
  • Step in to assist with proposals as appropriate when issues arise
  • Participate in select color reviews
  • Judicious escalation of operational issues to the Peraton Leadership team
  • Regularly liaise with Line Leadership, Capture Operations, subcontractors, and customer stakeholders throughout the Peraton community
  • This position will require hands-on work to establish team goals, review of workloads and schedules, and counseling of staff in challenging situations
  • Collaborate with fellow leaders in the Proposal Operations organization to enhance and improve processes and procedures

Qualifications

Required Qualifications 

  • Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 16 years of relevant professional experience in Proposal Operations, Management, and Development roles
  • Track record of 10+ years winning proposal efforts valued at $50M or more
  • 5+ years in a management and talent development capacity
  • Ability to effectively manage proposals, operations, and people in a complex, fast-paced, and dynamic, deadline-driven environment
  • Ability to manage conflict effectively and negotiate solutions that best support Peraton's growth goals, mission, and values
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills
  • US Citizenship

 Desired Qualifications

  • Expert proficiency with SharePoint, MS Office, and other business applications
  • Knowledge of the Shipley-based Business Acquisition Process
  • Ability to interface with senior leadership on the most sensitive and complex new business pursuits.
  • Ability to work with little direction and handle multiple tasks
  • Experience working a flexible schedule which may have included evenings and weekends as required
  • Ability to obtain a security clearance

Target Salary Range

$135,000 - $216,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual’s experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
