Responsibilities

Peraton is seeking an experienced Windows Systems Administrator (Journeyman) to support our Federal Strategic Cyber Mission program.

 

Location: Beltsville, MD

  • Ability to support core business hours (0800–1700).

 

What You’ll Do

  • Administer and support Windows Server systems across enterprise environments, including OpenNet, ClassNet, and associated enclaves.
  • Perform routine system maintenance, patching, and configuration updates in accordance with established standards.
  • Troubleshoot server, OS, and service-level issues to maintain system availability and performance.
  • Support Active Directory (AD) operations including authentication issues, directory health, and access control validation.
  • Assist with ARS-related activities within connect.sbu environments.
  • Resolve AD authentication issues, account lockouts, and directory-related challenges.
  • Ensure correct use of key AD attributes (including extensionAttribute10 and iPost-related attributes) to support integrations with platforms such as Okta and iPost.
  • Execute patching activities following DT maintenance windows and compliance requirements.
  • Monitor iPost scoring and collaborate with Scanning and System Administration teams to remediate findings.
  • Apply STIG-compliant configurations and support vulnerability remediation efforts alongside Cybersecurity teams.
  • Monitor system performance using SolarWinds and Splunk; identify and resolve system‑level issues.
  • Develop and maintain PowerShell scripts to drive automation and reduce manual tasks.
  • Support backup validation and system recovery efforts in alignment with COOP expectations.
  • Support virtualized environments (e.g., Nutanix) and assist with integrations and infrastructure updates.
  • Collaborate with supporting teams to troubleshoot dependencies and connectivity issues.
  • Maintain clear documentation for configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting activities.
  • Continue developing technical proficiency in Windows systems, AD, and enterprise tools used within the environment.

 

Qualifications

Minimum requirements: 

  • Bachelor’s degree and minimum of 9 years of relevant experience; or, Master’s degree with minimum of 7 years; or PhD with 4 years.  Four (4) additional years of experience can be substituted in lieu of the degree requirement. 
  • Must possess, or obtain prior to start date, at least one of the following certifications. Continued certification is required as a condition of employment:
    • CASP+ CE; CCNA Cyber Ops; CCNA-Security; CCNP Security; CEH; CFR; CISA; CISSP (or Associate); Cloud+; CySA+; GCED; GCIA; GCIH; GICSP; SCYBER; VCA DCV; PPDA; Agile IC;
      SNOW App Dev

  • Experience with enterprise technologies such as Windows Server, Active Directory, virtualization platforms (e.g., Nutanix), and monitoring tools (e.g., Splunk, SolarWinds).
  • U.S. Citizenship required.
  • An Active Secret security clearance with eligibility to obtain a final Top Secret security clearance.
  • Ability to support core business hours (0800–1700).

Target Salary Range

$112,000 - $179,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual’s experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
