Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Monitor Network Health: 
  • Monitors critical network elements and applications using various network monitoring systems in a 7x24x365 Network Operations Center (NOC). 
  • Continuously monitor network availability, performance, and capacity using enterprise tools. 
  • Incident Response & Triage: 
  • Perform initial diagnosis of network issues and determine appropriate resolution steps. 
  • Escalate complex issues to network engineers when necessary. 
  • Issue Resolution: 
  • Resolve network-related problems within defined SLAs. 
  • After-Hours Support: 
  • Provide incident management support during off-hours as part of a rotating schedule. 
  • Provisioning Requests: 
  • Address backlog of network and VoIP provisioning requests when operational workload allows. 
  • Documentation & Reporting: 
  • Maintain accurate records of incidents, resolutions, and provisioning activities. 

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years with High School Diploma 
  • Technical Expertise: 
  • Hands-on experience with Cisco, Juniper, F5, and Palo Alto networking equipment and software. 
  • Networking Knowledge: 
  • Strong understanding of routing, switching, firewalls, and load balancers. 
  • Tools & Monitoring: 
  • Familiarity with network monitoring and incident management tools. 
  • Availability: 
  • Ability to work rotating 12-hour shifts to provide 24x7 coverage. 
  • Soft Skills 
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. 
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities. 
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills. 
  • Team-oriented with a focus on collaboration and knowledge sharing. 
  • Customer-focused mindset with attention to service quality. 
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy (DOE) security clearance. 

Certifications (Preferred): 

  • Cisco: CCNA, CCNP 
  • Juniper: JNCIA, JNCIS 
  • F5: F5 Certified BIG-IP Administrator 
  • Palo Alto: PCNSE (Palo Alto Networks Certified Network Security Engineer)

Target Salary Range

$66,000 - $106,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual’s experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
