Responsibilities

We are seeking a highly skilled and innovative System Administrator to join our team in the greater DMV area, supporting the Army National Guard.

 

Responsibilities

  • Manage Windows and Linux servers across production, staging, COOP, and training environments: OS/image deployment, configuration, patching, backups/restores, and capacity optimization.
  • Execute IAVA/STIG compliance activities: run scans (ACAS/SCAP), apply STIG/IAVM remediations, validate fixes, and track compliance timelines for CCRI/CVE requirements.
  • Deploy enterprise applications and OS patches across NIPRNet and SIPRNet; coordinate testing, integration, and rollback procedures to preserve availability.
  • Administer RBAC, Core‑ACS/Edge‑EAS, Client RA VPN, base firewall policies, mailbox provisioning/decommissioning, and license allocation/usage for DEE/Army 365 services.
  • Monitor system health and performance, investigate incidents, perform root‑cause analysis, and coordinate escalations and post‑deployment support.
  • Maintain platform SOPs, baseline configurations, runbooks, and change records to support configuration management and audit readiness.
  • Produce operational reports, compliance dashboards, and evidence packages for RMF/ATO and inspection activities.
  • Coordinate with cybersecurity, NOC/NOSC, application owners, and vendors to remediate vulnerabilities and validate mitigations.
  • Support lifecycle activities: upgrades, capacity planning, licensing, and continuous improvement of system hardening and resilience.

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 8 years with BS/BA; Minimum of 6 years with MS/MA; Minimum of 3 years with PhD
  • Clearance: Active TS/SCI clearance.

  • Candidate must meet ONE of the following:

    • Master’s degree or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Data Science, Information Systems, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related field; OR
    • Relevant DoD/military training (examples: M0923W1; A‑102‑5888; A‑102‑5599 (SNOOP); C‑150‑1401; W‑150‑4575; S‑250‑1095; A‑531‑0022; etc.); OR
    • Relevant professional certification or equivalent experience (examples: SecurityX/CASP+; CCNP Security; CCSP; FITSP‑O; GFACT).
  • Required experience and skills:

    • Systems administration/engineering experience with at least 3 years managing enterprise Windows/Linux server environments in DoD or large enterprise contexts.
    • Hands‑on expertise with STIG hardening, ACAS/SCAP scanning, patch management, RMF/ATO evidence workflows, and CCRI/IAVM compliance processes.
    • Proficiency with virtualization, backups/DR (RMAN, snapshots), enterprise patch deployment, and operational monitoring/alerting tools.
    • Experience managing identity, VPN, mailbox services, licensing, and secure configuration in multi‑domain (NIPR/SIPR/cloud) environments.
    • Strong documentation, change control, and incident response coordination skills.
  • Desired:

    • Prior DoD/ARNG platform operations or DEE/Army 365 provisioning experience.
    • Experience with automation/configuration management (Ansible, PowerShell, Python), cloud migration patterns, and platform capacity planning.

Target Salary Range

$104,000 - $166,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual’s experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
