Responsibilities

Join the NiagaraFiles development team to maintain and modernize the IC-specific NiagaraFiles application and its components. This role involves working with unclassified Apache NiFi components that form the foundation of the IC NiagaraFiles environment. Telework is permitted up to two days per week when there are tasks that can be effectively completed remotely, such as NiFi development. Key responsibilities include modernizing the software by building NiFi microservices and refactoring existing NiagaraFiles components to enhance performance, functionality, and scalability within the AWS cloud environment.

Qualifications

  • Twenty (20) years of software engineering experience supporting programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline from an accredited institution.
    Note: Four (4) additional years of software engineering experience on projects with similar processes may be substituted in lieu of a degree.
  • Minimum of six (6) years of recent experience in Java development, including Java 8, 11, and 21.
  • Strong understanding of class loading and multi-threaded application development.
  • Experience refactoring software to operate efficiently in an AWS cloud environment.
  • An active TS/SCI security clearance with Polygraph is required.

Desired Qualifications: 

  • Familiarity with JUnit and Mockito for automated testing.
  • Experience working with mission data formats.
  • Knowledge of Apache NiFi and/or NiagaraFiles.
  • Hands-on experience in the AWS environment.
  • Familiarity with Kubernetes and Docker for containerized applications.
  • Experience with Terraform for Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
  • Proficiency with development tools such as Git, Maven, and Jira.
  • Understanding of automation practices and CI/CD pipelines.

Target Salary Range

$176,000 - $282,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual’s experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
