Responsibilities

Provide leadership and subject-matter expertise supporting planning and execution of special activities. Draft, maintain, and update policies, programs, orders, plans, annexes, and regulatory documents; advise senior leadership and tailor J39‑SAB planning efforts to mission requirements. Support conferences, working groups, and organizational meetings with minimal supervision.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Draft and update orders, plans, annexes, appendices, and regulatory/policy documents in accordance with DoD joint planning guidance.
  • Provide planning support to J39‑SAB leadership; advise on tailoring plans to mission requirements.
  • Support and coordinate conferences, working groups, organizational meetings, and stakeholder engagements.
  • Work independently with minimal direction; manage task-level administration and quality control.
  • Prepare briefings, presentations, and decision papers for senior leadership.
  • Coordinate across CCMD/TSOC/JTF/Service component staffs and interagency partners as required.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of 12 years with BS/BA; Minimum of 10 years with MS/MA; Minimum of 7 years with Ph.D.
  • Clearance: TS with eligibility for SCI at proposal submission and ability to maintain SCI access.
  • Experience: Minimum 5 years military/DoD experience producing orders, plans, annexes, and appendices per DoD joint planning guidance.
  • Skills: Strong writing/editing, planning doctrine familiarity (MDMP/JOPES/Joint planning), briefing senior leaders, stakeholder coordination, independent task leadership.

Desired Qualifications

  • Eligibility for Counterintelligence Scope Polygraph (CSP).
  • Minimum 3 years (within last 5 years) staff experience at a CCMD, TSOC, JTF, or Service component supporting plans/operations.
  • Minimum 3 years program/project management experience leading diverse technical teams (5+ members).
  • Minimum 3 years producing briefings/papers for GO/FO/SES/Secretariat-level audiences.
  • Prior J39, SOF, or USSOCOM experience preferred.

Target Salary Range

$112,000 - $179,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual’s experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
