Join Peraton in advancing the safety, efficiency, and modernization of the National Airspace System (NAS) through the FAA’s Brand New Air Traffic Control System (BNATCS) contract. As a trusted partner to the Federal Aviation Administration, Peraton helps deliver the systems and services that keep our nation’s skies safe and connected. We’re looking for innovative professionals who thrive in mission-critical environments and are passionate about shaping the future of air traffic management. This is your chance to make an impact on one of the world’s most vital transportation infrastructures, working alongside leaders in aviation, engineering, data science, and systems integration.
We are seeking a Modeling and Simulation (M&S) Solution Architect to lead the design and implementation of advanced modeling, simulation, and digital engineering environments that support next-generation air traffic control capabilities. This role will drive the development of AI-enabled digital twins, system simulations, and decision-support tools used to evaluate system performance, operational scenarios, and modernization strategies across the NAS.
The ideal candidate is a highly experienced technical leader with deep expertise in Modeling & Simulation (M&S), Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), AI frameworks, and aerospace systems, capable of guiding teams and mentoring engineers while shaping enterprise-level technical strategies.
At Peraton, you won’t just support the mission — you’ll define it.
This position is 100% remote.
Architect and lead the development of enterprise Modeling & Simulation (M&S) solutions supporting FAA modernization and BNATCS initiatives.
Design and implement AI-enabled digital twin environments and simulation frameworks to model NAS operations, system performance, and modernization scenarios.
Apply Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) principles to support system design, integration, and verification activities.
Lead technical teams and provide mentorship to engineers and analysts involved in modeling, simulation, and digital engineering efforts.
Develop simulation models and analytical frameworks to assess system performance, risk, and operational outcomes across complex aviation environments.
Integrate AI/ML techniques into modeling and simulation platforms to enable predictive analysis, scenario testing, and decision support.
Conduct risk and performance analyses using simulation outputs to support FAA program decisions and operational planning.
Collaborate with FAA stakeholders, systems engineers, and program leadership to translate operational needs into simulation-based solutions.
Evaluate manufacturing, system integration, and operational considerations through simulation to improve lifecycle planning and deployment strategies.
Provide architectural oversight for simulation infrastructure, ensuring scalability, interoperability, and compliance with FAA engineering standards.
Prepare and deliver technical briefings, simulation results, and architectural recommendations to FAA leadership and program stakeholders.
Support program strategy and business development activities by contributing technical expertise to proposals and solution development.
FAA modernization is transforming how the National Airspace System operates. Every architectural decision must balance performance, safety, interoperability, and cybersecurity. As a Solutions Architect (SME), your leadership ensures that systems are engineered with precision and foresigh supporting the FAA’s mission to maintain the safest and most efficient airspace in the world. Your work will directly influence mission-critical aviation infrastructure serving millions of passengers daily.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, or a related field with 16 years of experience, or Master’s degree with 14 years of experience.
Proven expertise in Modeling & Simulation (M&S) and digital engineering environments supporting complex systems.
Strong background in Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) methodologies and tools.
Experience designing and implementing AI/ML frameworks or Digital Twin architectures.
Demonstrated experience in aerospace, aviation, or FAA-related systems.
Experience performing risk analysis, system performance modeling, and scenario-based simulation studies.
Familiarity with manufacturing systems modeling, system lifecycle simulation, or operational readiness analysis.
Proven leadership experience managing or mentoring technical teams and direct reports.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into actionable insights.
Excellent communication and presentation skills, with experience briefing senior technical and government stakeholders.
Direct experience supporting FAA modernization initiatives or NAS-related systems.
Experience with digital twin platforms, AI/ML simulation tools, or advanced modeling frameworks.
Familiarity with FAA systems engineering and safety assurance processes.
