Senior Software Engineer

Peraton is seeking a Senior Software Engineer with strong experience in Java and JavaScript to join our DataRunner team. In this role, you will be a full-time contributor working alongside a team of eight engineers to design, develop, and maintain complex software solutions.

 

As a member of this team, you will:

• Provide recommendations on new technologies, tools, and development processes to support complex software projects.

• Serve as the technical lead for multiple software development efforts, guiding architecture and implementation decisions.

• Collaborate with customers and systems engineering teams to select and implement appropriate software development methodologies.

• Ensure quality control and adherence to development standards for all newly developed and modified software.

• Delegate programming and testing responsibilities across development teams and monitor performance, progress, and deliverables.

• Develop data queries for existing and proposed databases or data repositories.

• Contribute to UI-focused development efforts using modern JavaScript frameworks and libraries.

• 20+ years of software engineering experience supporting programs of similar scope and complexity.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field (or 4 additional years of relevant SWE experience in lieu of a degree).
• Active TS/SCI clearance with polygraph.

• Strong experience with Java and JavaScript, with a focus on user interface development.

• Experience with Vue.js.

• Proficiency working in a Linux-based development environment.

• Experience with Spring Boot, jQuery, JavaScript, and CSS.

• Familiarity with Bootstrap, Bootstrap-table, and Plotly for UI and data visualization development.

 

Desired experience:

• Experience with Velocity Templates and their dependencies on Jersey (current environment), with familiarity transitioning applications to Spring Boot–based architectures.

• Experience working with AWS cloud services.

• Familiarity with automated tools and CI/CD pipelines for continuous integration and deployment.

• Experience with NoSQL and search technologies, including MongoDB, Elasticsearch, and OpenSearch.

• Experience configuring and supporting Apache Tomcat application servers.

• Strong understanding of User Experience (UX) design principles.

• Familiarity with Section 508 accessibility compliance standards.

$176,000 - $282,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual’s experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
