Peraton is currently seeking to hire an experienced Windows Systems Administrator for its Federal Strategic Cyber group.
Location: On-site role in Beltsville, MD.
As the Windows Systems Administrator, you will:
- Serve as a senior technical contributor responsible for the stability, security, and lifecycle management of enterprise Windows-based infrastructure.
- Provide deep technical expertise in the design, configuration, and administration of Windows systems while supporting enterprise initiatives that ensure resilient, secure, and scalable environments.
- Demonstrate strong technical proficiency, sound operational judgment, and the ability to independently troubleshoot complex infrastructure issues.
- You will collaborate closely with cybersecurity, networking, infrastructure, and application teams to maintain reliable system operations aligned with organizational objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
Windows Server Administration
- Administer, configure, and maintain enterprise Windows Server environments to ensure high availability, reliability, and performance.
- Perform system health monitoring and proactively address issues that could impact operational stability.
- Conduct performance assessments and capacity planning to support long-term infrastructure scalability.
Active Directory & Identity Services
- Manage and maintain Active Directory services including domain services, Group Policy administration, and access controls.
- Implement identity and access management best practices in coordination with enterprise security policies.
- Troubleshoot authentication, directory, and identity-related issues across supported environments.
Patch & Vulnerability Management
- Execute Windows patch management activities including scheduling, testing, deployment, and compliance verification.
- Support vulnerability remediation efforts in coordination with cybersecurity teams.
- Ensure systems remain compliant with enterprise patching and security standards.
Security & Compliance
- Implement security configurations and hardening practices in accordance with established organizational policies.
- Support vulnerability assessments and remediation activities impacting Windows infrastructure.
- Assist with security investigations and provide system-level expertise during incident response activities.
Automation & Operational Efficiency
- Develop and maintain automation scripts using PowerShell and related tools to streamline administrative tasks.
- Improve operational efficiency by reducing manual processes and standardizing repeatable system administration activities.
- Support infrastructure optimization initiatives through scripting and automation.
Backup, Recovery & Continuity
- Support enterprise backup and recovery solutions to ensure data integrity and system availability.
- Assist with disaster recovery planning and periodic recovery testing.
- Help validate recovery procedures to ensure recovery objectives are achievable.
Virtualization & Systems Integration
- Administer virtualization platforms supporting Windows workloads.
- Support integration of Windows systems with storage, networking, and enterprise infrastructure services.
- Collaborate with infrastructure teams to troubleshoot system dependencies and connectivity issues.
Monitoring & Performance Management
- Utilize enterprise monitoring tools to track system health and performance metrics.
- Analyze monitoring data to identify trends and address potential service degradation.
- Support reporting and visibility into infrastructure health and operational status.
Cross-Team Collaboration
- Work closely with cybersecurity, networking, and application teams to support enterprise infrastructure operations.
- Contribute technical expertise to system deployments, upgrades, and integration activities.
- Participate in troubleshooting and resolution of complex operational incidents.
Documentation & Operational Knowledge
- Maintain accurate documentation for system configurations, procedures, and operational processes
- Contribute to the development and refinement of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Ensure documentation supports operational continuity and knowledge transfer.
Professional Development
- Stay current with evolving Windows technologies, security practices, and enterprise infrastructure trends.
- Maintain relevant technical certifications and pursue ongoing professional development aligned with enterprise needs.
