Responsibilities

Peraton is seeking a Full Stack Software Engineer to support our customer who is located in Colorado Springs. We are seeking an individual with strong technical and team collaboration skills to with experience designing, developing, and maintaining secure, mission-critical applications in AWS cloud environments. Skilled in building and operating full-stack solutions across frontend and backend systems while supporting national security missions with strong emphasis on reliability, security, and performance. This role will help play a major role as part of successful deployment of the Space Weather Analysis Forecasting Service (SWAFS)/ GovCloud solution. Join our dynamic team to Do the Can’t Be Done!


Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test, and maintain full-stack software applications deployed in AWS cloud environments
  • Build and integrate frontend user interfaces with backend services and APIs
  • Contribute to system architecture and technical design for cloud-native AWS solutions
  • Enhance and modernize existing applications while developing new capabilities aligned with mission needs
  • Troubleshoot and resolve application issues across the stack, including AWS-hosted services
  • Collaborate with engineers, architects, and stakeholders within Agile development teams
  • Integrate AWS services to improve scalability, availability, and system performance
  • Support GitLab CI/CD pipelines, including automated builds, testing, and deployments
  • Develop and maintain containerized applications, including building and maintaining Docker containers
  • Contribute to and support Spring Boot and Tomcat-based applications
  • Ensure compliance with secure software development practices and federal security standards
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation for cloud-based systems
  • Adapt quickly to changing requirements in a fast-paced, mission-focused environment

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree with minimum of 5 years’ relevant experience OR Master’s degree with 3 years’ relevant experience. Four (4) years of relevant experience can stand in place for equivalency in lieu of degree.
  • This position requires the candidate possess a minimum of Top-Secret clearance with ability to obtain SCI. The candidate must maintain the clearance.
    • Willingness to meet additional program-specific security requirements (e.g., polygraph, as applicable)
  • Experience developing full-stack applications in AWS cloud environments
  • Proficiency with frontend technologies such as JavaScript/TypeScript, React, Angular, or similar frameworks
  • Backend development experience using Java, Python, Node.js, 
  • Experience designing and consuming RESTful APIs
  • Experience with Containerized Applications and docker-based workflows
  • Working knowledge of AWS services, such as:
    • Compute (EKS, Lambda)
    • Storage (S3)
    • Databases (PostgreSQL)
    • Monitoring and logging (CloudWatch)
  • Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code tools (e.g., CloudFormation, Terraform)
  • Experience with CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions)
  • Understanding of secure coding practices and development in classified or regulated environments

Desired Qualifications

  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills across application and cloud environments
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating within Agile and DevSecOps teams
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills, including technical documentation
  • Adaptability to evolving mission requirements and technical landscapes
  • Prior Space Weather coding experience is desired

Target Salary Range

$104,000 - $166,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual’s experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
