Research Scientist - SME

Join the Peraton Labs Space System Research team and support advanced research and leading-edge technology development in areas such as space domain awareness, command and control, multi-domain operations, cislunar space, and space digital twins.  Leverage artificial intelligence to accelerate development and enhance technical solutions.  Provide technical leadership to the team to design solutions, set project direction, drive implementation, and task and mentor staff.  You’ll work in an Agile software development environment supporting requirements/story development, software architecture and design, software development, and testing.  In this role, staff generally support at least two programs at a time, requiring the ability to multi-task and drive multiple programs forward.  Initial programs supported will focus on the design and development of space domain awareness technologies.

Required Qualifications:

• Minimum of 16 years with BS/BA; Minimum of 14 years with MS/MA; Minimum of 10 years with Ph.D. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
• 10+ years of experience working as a software engineer or related function
• Demonstrated expertise working in the space domain, with a particular emphasis on space domain awareness for commercial and national security applications
• Experience leading teams using an Agile software development process
• Ability to pick up new programming languages and technologies quickly, with existing experience in Java and web development technologies.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to multitask and work across multiple programs successfully
• Self-motivated, independent, detail oriented, responsible team-player
• Strong written and oral communication skills
• U.S. Citizenship and an active TS/SCI clearance

 

Desired Qualifications:

• Prior experience working with DevSecOps processes and tools
• Experience with artificial intelligence tools and technologies
• Experience with deploying software into cloud environments, particularly AWS
• Ability to anticipate problems and take decisive action and an ability to find innovative ways to solve problems

$176,000 - $282,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual’s experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
