Responsibilities

Peraton is seeking an experienced Senior Systems Engineer (SETA) to join our team of technical and business experts providing operational and mission support to a SI/SETA mission for a classified customer in McLean, Virginia. 

In this role you will be responsible for supporting our clients, meet their mission goals and strategic objectives by providing high-quality Systems Engineering and technical leadership expertise for design, development, evaluation of end-to-end systems and systems-oriented products through their full development and operational life cycle. The role requires a strong background in systems engineering, with specific knowledge of networking and Linux to enable data flow between a variety of hardware devices. Excellent organizational and communication skills is necessary.

Our unique team of technical and business disciplines provide operational support for Systems Engineering/Integration, Mission Planning, and Business Operations to multiple functional mission areas. The team is responsible for technical design, operations, mission planning and business operations for the full life cycle of customer specific operations with a concentration of operations and maintenance activities.

The Senior Systems Engineer (SETA) will be responsible for the following but not limited to:

  • Operate and maintain multiple customer systems with varying footprints and use cases.
  • Troubleshoot and maintain network systems from remote terminals, identifying and resolving issues quickly and efficiently,
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks and coordinate and maintain data flows across networks.
  • As a network specialist, collaborate with other teams, such as engineering developers and technical operation officers, to ensure seamless integration of network systems with new technologies.
  • Develop and maintain documentation of network system operation and maintenance, including technical specifications, test results and maintenance records.
  • Provide technical support and training to other teams as needed.
  • Stay up-to-date with new technologies and developments within the department, and apply this knowledge to improve system operations.
  • Provide support to client programmatic and technical forums.
  • Assisting COTRs and INFOSEC engineering teams develop system accreditation documentation.
  • Attend relevant component readiness reviews and testing milestones and provide recommendations to the government Project Manager.
  • Assist in the review and assessment of contractor deliverables and provide an independent assessment.

 **This role requires the candidate to perform duties on-site Mon-Fri.**

Qualifications

Required:

  • A current/valid TS/SCI with relevant polygraph is required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Network Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, Systems Engineering, or other related technical discipline and 12 years relevant experience; master’s degree and 10 years of relevant experience; PhD and seven (7) years of relevant experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in network engineering, with a focus on design, installation, testing, and maintenance.
  • Experience with Linux operating systems and networking protocols (e.g. TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP)
  • Experience with the configuration management of CISCO, Juniper, or similar equipment.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues and develop creative solutions.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and ability to work accurately.
  • Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Office products, such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and MS Project.
  • Experience working with inter-agency partners on technical intelligence issues and R&D activities.

 Desired:

  • Experience with managing data flows on IC networks; coordinating data back hauls from remote sites.
  • Knowledge of networking protocols and architectures, including LAN, WAN, and Wi-Fi.
  • Experience with configuration management tools, such as Ansible or Puppet
  • Prior experience as a SETA.

Target Salary Range

$146,000 - $234,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual’s experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
