Air Conditioning and Heating Technician

Peraton is seeking an Air Conditioning and Heating Technician supporting the Deep Space Network DSN) in Fort Irwin, CA with JPL/NASA.

 

The Deep Space Network is NASA’s international array of giant radio antennas that supports interplanetary spacecraft missions, plus a few that orbit Earth. The DSN also provides radar and radio astronomy observations that improve our understanding of the solar system and the larger universe. The antennas of the Deep Space Network are the indispensable link to explorers venturing beyond the moon. They provide the crucial connection for commanding our spacecraft and receiving their never-before-seen images and scientific information on Earth, propelling our understanding of the universe, our solar system and ultimately, our place within it.

 

Air Conditioning and Heating Technician perform preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, repair and installation of HVAC systems at the Goldstone Deep Space Communications Complex.  Systems supported include evaporative coolers, chilled water systems, DX units, propane and electric heating, and small-scale propane boilers.

 

Responsibilities:

• Perform preventative maintenance on the HVAC systems
• Perform monthly safety inspections of assigned buildings
• Troubleshoot equipment utilizing mechanical drawings and electronic schematics
• Collect and provide analysis of technical data
• Collaborate with other departments as necessary to meet customer requirements
• Perform other duties as required

BS 0-2 Years or HS 6-8

 

Required Qualifications:

• BS 0-2 Years or HS 6-8
• Must possess a refrigerant transfer license.
• Must have extensive HVAC troubleshooting, repair and maintenance.
• Must be proficient in office computer use to include MS Office Word, Excel, and Computerize Maintenance Management System.
• Must possess good written and verbal communication skills.
• Must be motivated, safety minded and demonstrate a team attitude.
• Must have the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

• Must be able to obtain a trusted background check and pass a National Criminal Information Check (NCIC). In order to obtain clearance, you need to be a US Citizen and show proof of citizenship.
• Must possess and retain a valid Driver’s License (Real ID).

Desired Qualifications

• Experience with chilled water systems. PLC or HMI experience a plus.

The rate / range per hour below represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual’s experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
