Responsibilities

Peraton is seeking a Cloud Engineer to support the NOAA AWIPS program - the mission-critical forecasting system used in over 150 National Weather Service offices nationwide. AWIPS is entering a phase of modernization and cloud-ready transformation, and this role will help guide the design, deployment, and optimization of cloud infrastructure that strengthens forecasting speed, resilience, and scalability.

 

What You’ll Do:

  • Support cloud deployments, administration, automation, and operational sustainment of cloud-based systems.
  • Build, deploy, and manage cloud resources and services.
  • Support scripting, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure automation.
  • Implement security best practices and monitoring solutions.
  • Troubleshoot cloud and networking issues.

 

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:
  • Min 5 years with BS/BA, Min 3 years with MS/MA, Min 0 years with PhD
  • 4 additional years of relevant experience will be considered in lieu of a bachelor’s degree.
  • Experience deploying and administering resources in cloud environments (AWS/Azure).
  • Familiarity with infrastructure automation, scripting, and DevSecOps workflows.
  • Knowledge of Linux systems, networking, and monitoring tools.
  • Experience supporting distributed systems or high-availability environments.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience supporting NOAA programs.
  • Active/Current Public Trust

Target Salary Range

$104,000 - $166,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual’s experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
