Responsibilities

Peraton is looking to hire a TS/SCI cleared Director of Operations to lead the operations workforce sustaining 24/7 C5ISR operations and maintenance across all operational domains in direct support of USSOCOM’s mission.  This role will be located on-site in Tampa, FL.

 

This role ensures enterprise resilience and modernization across SOCOM’s integrated transport architecture, driving business functions, improving departmental processes, and collaborating with leadership on strategic planning and performance analysis to sustain and advance global mission readiness.

 

What you'll do:

 

  • Enterprise Operations Oversight: Direct management of a 24/7 operations with multi‑tier engineering teams spanning Satellite, Systems, Network, and Cybersecurity disciplines.
  • Mission Continuity: Ensure uninterrupted C5ISR operations across all operational domains, overseeing end‑to‑end sustainment while coordinating with customers and vendors to maintain resilience and mission readiness.
  • Modernization & Adoption: Oversee capabilities and automation with a focus on orchestrating operational adoption of solutions developed by engineering.
  • Ensure seamless transition into the operations environment, enabling proactive monitoring, rapid response, and sustained mission readiness.
  • Customer Engagement: Maintain trusted relationships across multiple levels of SOCOM leadership, ensuring transparency and responsiveness.
  • Vendor Coordination: Manage third‑party vendor support and services to align with SOCOM operational priorities.
  • Multi‑Domain Operations: Direct simultaneous support tasks including terminal commissioning, terrestrial interconnect integration, and Authorized Service Interruptions (ASIs) for migrations and testing.
  • Continuous Improvement: Analyze current operations, introduce new measures, and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, resilience, and mission impact.

 

Qualifications

What you'll need:

 

  • Experience: 16+ years of professional experience, including significant management responsibility.
  • Clearance: Active TS/SCI clearance.
  • SATCOM Expertise: 10+ years of SATCOM operations experience across networks and terminals; direct experience with ISR systems, commercial SATCOM service providers (e.g., Viasat, SES, iDirect) and/or Wideband Global SATCOM (WGS) preferred.
  • Leadership: 5+ years leading and managing technical teams across multiple domains.
  • DoD/SOCOM Familiarity: Prior experience operating within USSOCOM and/or broader DoD environments.
  • Technical Oversight: Broad understanding of ISR transport communications, SATCOM, and Ground Entry Point operations, with the ability to oversee complex networks, systems cybersecurity, and virtual environments.
  • Skilled in directing technical teams, ensuring operational adoption of new capabilities, and integrating solutions seamlessly into mission operations.
  • Infrastructure Acumen: Knowledge of satellite controller operations, terminology, and procedures.
  • Governance: Familiarity with Change Control Management (CCM) and Change Control Request (CCR) processes.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related field; alternatively, 15+ years of directly related experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to synthesize complex operational data into concise, actionable executive communication.
  • Proven record of empowering diverse teams and delivering measurable mission outcomes under resource constraints.

Target Salary Range

$146,000 - $234,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual’s experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
